Vintage, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Simply put, success is the achievement of a defined goal. We constantly make objectives for ourselves, whether consciously or subconsciously. The answer is how determined are you as an individual to follow the laws you make for yourself. There is no right answer for this because goals should change after ever milestone, true success to me is always finding yourself hungry for what you like to do.
Vintage, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Zimbabwean afro- surrealist and afrofuturist artist, who loves to investigate the themes of African and Greek mythology, enabling viewers to envision new realities and conceptualize a transcendent future. Best known for producing surrealist digital collages with music and animation, intertwining mythological tales and historical references to render mystical dreamscapes, i see myself as one who reifies an immersive experience and the evocative power of digital art.
I got into the art industry because it was the one thing i was good at in high school, i felt no pressure as the barometer for success is mainly subject to criticism. My goal was always to show my mind to a global audience and let them see art through an afrofuturist lens.
I am motion graphic artist by trade, graduating with an M.F.A in Graphic Design from Cyprus International University, specializing in advertising and multimedia.
With major influences from artists such as Taj Francis, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Salvador Dalí, as well as Hip Hop artists such the Wu-Tang Clan and Rap artists such as Kanye West, i like to blend lessons learnt from these creative genres into the animated forms we see across their oeuvre, that welcome the viewer to inhabit a place of becoming in each artwork, where new ways of being can form.
I am the co-founder of the African NFT Community which offers African NFT artists a platform to share their creations and has catalyzed a place for artists to gain more exposure to the world of NFTs, as well as voice their trials and tribulations.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I believe Nfts are the renaissance for digital artists and the gateway for sovereignty. Asset ownership that has been tokenized into an NFT can be transferred more easily and efficiently between persons all over the world. The ownership of NFTs is protected by a blockchain: The use of blockchain technology to digitally signify ownership can increase the security of an investor’s asset ownership.
I am very pro this technology because of how it will be the future of authentication, it cannot be faked as the blockchain does not lie.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Making art is a continuing learning process that lasts throughout your career and life. One of the most rewarding aspects of being an artist is seeing your own development as an artist. I always like to have that ‘BAZINGA’ moment when making something as i am my own biggest critic.
