We were lucky to catch up with Vincent Rubio recently and have shared our conversation below.
Vincent, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
For me personally, (Vinny) It had to be our newest EP, ‘Intrinsik’. This was a project that I had every emotion that I had at the time put into. I felt like every little crappy thing I had ever done came back to haunt me. I believe what I felt was human nature’s way of showing growth. Growth comes in all different forms, up and down, it’s all apart of life. The word Intrinsic, means naturally belonging or essential, to me that’s human experience. This is brought to life because of this band, my friends. They are my inspiration for bettering myself. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today mentally. To that, I love this project the most.

Vincent, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Our band is more of an outlet for us. I’d like to think that we have a hard time communicating our emotions properly but through music we feel everything. Some of our biggest inspirations are bands such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, Primus, Deftones, Jane’s Addiction and 311. We incorporate a lot of Funk, Psychedelic Rock and hints of Nu-Metal (Sparingly lol). From shredding guitar parts like Hendrix, Navarro and Frusciante. To crazy basslines similar to Flea, Les Claypool and Robert Trujillo. The boys love jamming, I can sit back while they shred and play sick nasty funky riffs. I’m inspired by lyricists such as Brandon Boyd, Jim Morrison and Thom Yorke. I’m proud of this band for withstanding so many rotating drummers, and outlier music to the shows we perform at. I have nothing but love for all music and I love when we get a chance to perform to people who typically wouldn’t hear this kind of music. It’s super satisfying seeing people mosh to funky fast paced stuff. I love it.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I think our goal is to be able to do this for the rest of our life, to inspire people so they can express themselves even if it’s without the usage of words. Music is a form of artistic expression and it’s helped me cope with some of toughest battles and heartbreaks. We want to do this forever but forever isn’t guaranteed. So our mission is to do this for as long as possible, until it stops feeling good or fun.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I find that our best source of supporters/Fans/friends are from shows. Seeing people of all ages love our music and different types of songs are the best. The shows are super fun being able to express all together and as a family. The music speaks to us and we express, sing, dance, mosh, yell. Everything is so amazing and we love getting close with people who love our music. They are literally the best people in the world.
