We recently connected with Vincent Fink and have shared our conversation below.
Vincent, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
In the art world, being a renegade, free thinker, or having beliefs outside of the norm are not only frowned upon, they will get you cancelled. You will loose everything if you are a person of principle and don’t bow to the mob. You can be extremely talented and still held down by your contemporaries. This will come from the people who pose themselves as the most altruistic.
Vincent, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have always been an artist. I knew this was what I was put on this earth to do since I was drawing at the age of 3. I started making art professionally as soon as I graduated college where I studied media arts and animation. I got into graphic design for screen printing companies. Eventually started my entrepreneurial journey doing t-shirt graphics for my company Point506 Clothing as well as fine art drawings and paintings.
I specialize in hand drawn illustrations and surreal paintings but still create digital graphics for clients. I have since expanded my services to painting 3D surfaces, portraits, public art/street art/murals, and animation. I am also a singer/songwriter with many years of playing shows.
My style consists of the use of perspective and blending surrealism with Sacred Geometry to tell stories and explore my concepts with images.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The fact that I’m still here is a testament to my resilience. I have watched hundreds of artists come and go over decades of time. Many who seemed to be climbing the ladders of success quicker because they had the sunny, happy-go-lucky disposition, and the shit-eating grin that people seem to be drawn to.
My authenticity is not for everyone. Life is not all peaceful death and pretty flowers. Yes, there is a dark side to me and my art, because I don’t hide who I am. I am a whole person. With all the positive and negative. I do my best to look to the light but not always successful. Still, I push on. Sometimes, a fan will tell me about how I inspired them in some way. That’s a great feeling. My work aims to lift others out of the darkness. We are living in a harsh environment that will destroy you if you are not resilient.
I have been broken, beaten, and scarred. I don’t know why I’m still here other than the fact that I am hard-headed and this is who I am. I live in my art.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I keep going and improving even in the face of what may be impossible odds. Maybe I inspire people along the way. Hopefully I get good enough that I can provide better for my family. Eventually I would like to have a larger positive impact on society in general. My aim is to raise the collective vibration and consciousness of all mankind. I want to see us all get to the other side.
