We were lucky to catch up with Vincent Alberico recently and have shared our conversation below.
Vincent , appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
The best way to show your customers that you appreciate them is to make their life better. We help people live better through better sleep. We’ve built a shopping experience that is convenient, personalized, and stress-free. Our showrooms feature spa like environments that provide the perfect blend of privacy and education. Instead of allowing one large brand to be the dominant centerpiece of the showroom, the mattresses in a Natural Sleep showroom are selected because they have passed an extensive quality assessment that not only appreciates comfort, but also long term durability. You spend over 1/3 of your life sleeping, and good sleep is a predictor of good health. It has been a tenant of our business to only offer fine, organic, well-built, luxurious sleep options. In addition to building a relaxing environment, we also focus on creating long term relationships with our customers. Many people buy beds during milestone moments of their lives. From a new house, to a new spouse, buying a mattress is often a part of a new beginning for people. Many of our customers have been loyal for over a decade and I enjoy being someone they can call to ask advice or consult with on any of their family’s sleep needs. The biggest compliment we receive is when our customers come back years later to buy more beds for their kids, their parents, or recommend us to our friends. For me, I am fulfilled knowing that I’ve helped people sleep more comfortably and enjoyed the health benefits that come with that.
Vincent , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
At the start of the pandemic, we had to temporarily close our showrooms. But, people still needed to buy mattresses, so we were able to transition to an online and telephone consultative model where we could still help people with their purchasing decisions even without the ability to come into the showroom. We expanded our customizable mattress selection allowing customers to have more flexibility in the fit and feel of their mattress.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The number 1, 2, 3 thing that builds my reputation in the market is my honesty. I do not think of myself as a sales person. I simply want to help people find the perfect mattress for them to sleep better. For so long, people’s experiences with buying a mattress at big box stores has been associated with the same type of pressure as when buying a used car. Now, with online mattress buying becoming more popular, people are frustrated with the limitations of quality and comfort available online. But, there is no “perfect” mattress that will suit everyone’s needs. Buying a bed is subjective, and anyone that tells you that an algorithm or a quiz can get you into a perfect bed for you is selling something. I’ve always focused on the customer’s feedback and helped to guide them into making the best decision for themself. Price is not always a predictor of a mattress being better or worse for your particular needs. Because I am completely upfront with my customers, they appreciate that I am more interested in their satisfaction than selling a particular brand or model. Every body is different and no two people will feel a mattress the same way. By not having an agenda, other than trying to help people find their perfect fit, I have established a reputation of being a truthful, helpful, consultative advisor on their journey to high quality sleep.
