We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Vince Gonzales. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Vince below.
Vince, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
From a curious observer to an active community member, my journey into the world of Crypto, Blockchain, and Web3 began a few years ago, sparking my imagination with the possibilities of this new technology. As an artist and photographer, I envisioned a place for my work within this evolving landscape. After delving into articles and YouTube content, I realized that attending in-person events would be a game-changer for my education in this field. Initially, I saw myself as a passive spectator on the sidelines. Today, I created a dedicated podcast on this subject, curate my own digital collection, and serve as a Creative Director for a cutting-edge Web3 organization. The support and inclusivity of this community have been both inspiring and motivating, leading me to contribute in any way I can. It’s a valuable lesson – the quickest path to learning is taking action!
Vince, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a Podcaster, Designer and photographer. I’ve always been creative exploring a variety of platforms, formats, and technologies. The Creative Block Podcast is conversations with artists and creatives exploring Web3 and emerging technology. As a photographer I’ve had the opportunity to work in fashion, editorial and portraits. I imagined vintage and repurposed apparel as canvas for my original photographs and found retro graphics. VINPIX Clothing was born!
My photography journey has taken me through the exciting worlds of fashion, editorial, and portraiture. While curating my collection of original photographs and retro graphics, I was inspired to transform repurposed vintage apparel into new canvases for artistic expression. This fusion of art and fashion led to the birth of VINPIX Clothing, where every piece embodies a unique blend of creative vision and wearable art.
My mission is to bridge the past and future, redefining traditional mediums in the ever-evolving landscape of art, design, and technology.
I come from a background in film and TV post-production, and my fascination with media technology and pop culture has been a constant driving force in my life. I’ve taken a self-taught approach in all my creative pursuits. Photography holds a special place in my heart, and with the aid of YouTube tutorials and good old-fashioned trial and error, I transformed from a complete novice to confidently orchestrating full-fledged studio shoots.
My journey evolved when I ventured into the world of podcasting. It seamlessly weaved together my passion for exploration, allowing me to engage in enlightening conversations with creative Web3 minds working in the realms of food, fashion, lifestyle, and music. This journey goes beyond the realm of coding and crypto; for me, it dives into the diverse and dynamic aspects of our cultural landscape.”
I’m dedicated to delivering the latest insights on technology trends, cultural shifts, and technological advancements. Through my podcast, I aim to empower individuals who may have come across tech headlines but find it challenging to grasp the developments in the Web3 space and its significance in their lives. My goal is to bridge the knowledge gap and make this complex domain more accessible to all.”
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative, for me, is the connection and community it fosters. I often reflect on the why and how of my creative journey. I’ve come to view art as a language, a medium through which I communicate with others and understand their unique perspectives. I’ve learned that the more authentic I am in expressing my creativity, the deeper and more meaningful the connections I can forge.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I think the potential is beyond what we can imagine. I’ve been creating digital art on OpenSea for a little while. Beyond trading a digital collectable, the concept of proving provenance and potential royalty benefits could possibly be a game changer for all types of artists. I’m looking forward to watching how creatives will be taking advantage of this tech.
