Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vilash Reddy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Vilash, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
My dad came to this country with pennies in pocket and eventually with hard work and determination became a self employed general dentist. As a kid, I admired his ability to have a more balanced life by working for himself devoted a majority of his time towards the well being of his patients.
After working for various non-profits in Kansas City, St. Louis, and other parts of Missouri I got tired of politics, how patients in these clinics were treated like numbers, and the unethical implicates. There is a difference is making a mistake and sweeping persist mistakes under “the rug”. Also in these company government grants are often misused for the salaries of executives and not in improving the quality of programs and providing more financial support for the day to day staff.
After years of dealing with these dilemma, I started my own practice from the ground up, starting my own entrepreneur journey. I wanted it to be based on allowing patient the best quality mental health care experience as “we only have one life”. As my company grew I except all insurances including Medicare, Medicaid, and about 30+ insurance companies. I do have freedom to not focus on money and seeing the most patients to be my main incentive. I focus on educating and empower each patient providing them ample time to express their mental health concerns and life. Have a major background in life makes me proud that I’m “not a pill pusher” as an actively practice various therapy and alternative medicines. When you are seen at One Life Psychiatry you get the comprehensive understanding of what you dealing with and your customized tools on how to overcome it. Each one of my reviews on Google reflect the quality that I offer but you can’t please everyone. But at least I can say I’m human, treat you like a human, and I try my best each and everyday.
Without a sound mind, you are “deaf” to the beauty the surrounds you in the world always controlled by your disease. You have one life, why not liberate yourself!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My brand is unique in that a lot of time in spent property educating patients about the underlying diseases that they may have. We don’t see you for 5-10 minutes a throw a pill down ur throat which is a typical practice in psychiatry. We want you know your options, whether it be therapy, evidence based medicines, alternative remedies. We work with you get to source which may exist in childhood. Along the way, our patients are constantly learning and being educating so if they were see another doctor or therapist they are well informed. We don’t focus on trapping patients. Patients willl come and go different reasons but at least they will walk away with high quality mental health services and education. Services that are rarely offered. This is one of reasons I get 2nd or 3rd opinion. I am very good at diagnosed most conditions however can read up on conditions that are rare but I’m always transparent with my patients. Patients love humble and honest doctors in my experience.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Hands down I love mental health because it can totally alter the course of someone’s lives. It plays a major role in how people in society function and can link to may of misfortunes such as crime, homeless, abuse, neglect. I became child psychiatrist as well to be proactive rather than reactive. Time is finite and opportunities can be lost so it’s easier to change the course of someone’s life.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I would not unlearn any story. Life is a journey and the suffering teaches you a lesson that helps you gain wisdom, humility, and appreciation. It always gives you clarity on always refining your wants versus needs. This concept is very lost in our society. Each struggle in my life including deaths, trauma, etc made me reflect that I have “one life” it is my choice what direction I take and learn why I made it.
