We recently connected with Viktoria Jancurova and have shared our conversation below.
Viktoria, appreciate you joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
LinkedIn is getting busier and busier every day. Business owners are coming to the platform hoping to leverage the it to make more sales, attract great talent, raise awareness of their brand and more.
But they go about it from a very wrong angle. They post the “LOOK AT ME” type of content, as I call it. 3 months down the line they look back and wonder “why has nothing changed?”
We posted every day and…
The impressions are still low.
The engagement under content is non-existent.
The audience growth is slow.
The potential clients are under competitor’s posts.
So where are all the potential customers, collaborators, and employees?
Well, they are drawn to the people who care about THEM (target audience), not themselves and their metrics.
I see this too often. Business owners come to LinkedIn with high hopes that come crushing down after a few months. And it’s simple because they didn’t CARE about their target audience.
When I work with clients, it’s the first question we answer: Who is their target audience and what do they need or want?
Too many people chase metrics on LinkedIn. While I think that it’s important to track them, they should never be your priority. People should. It’s why we create content that resonates with the RIGHT people. Content that brings the RIGHT people in. Content that encourages the RIGHT people to take action.
We focus on building a quality audience. We invite people into our client’s network who want to be there. People who want to be a part of their community.
Our approach isn’t to turn our clients into the next influencers with 1M+ followers. Our approach helps your clients scale their business while being surrounded by the right people. Because as a business owner, your follower count doesn’t matter if your business doesn’t speak to the right people.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hey, I’m Viktoria Jancurova! I’m a content coach and ghostwriter for service-based business owners, founders, and CEOs.
I’ve got over 1000 posts published on LinkedIn selling high ticket offers (4-figures). I’m also a Client Success Manager in a well-known programme Content To Clients.
I’ve been writing content for social media since 2022 in 2 different languages – Slovak and English. Since then I’ve built a community of 15,000+ followers on LinkedIn that I monetised for the first time when I had just over 1,000 followers 📈
3 years ago I used to spend about 2 hours on LinkedIn. I would desperately scroll the job section and send out my CVs hoping that someone would take a chance on me.
Spoiler- they didn’t. Or at least not until I started putting myself out there and doing things differently.
I was just another university student who was fed up with working in bars, restaurants, and hotels hoping for something better.
But nothing really seemed to work for me until a post popped up on my feed.
It felt personal. It was honest. And it sparked my curiosity in seconds.
It spoke about this thing I’ve never heard before “personal brand” and how you can stand out from the crowd by building one.
So I started digging. Google, Google Scholar, LinkedIn, Blogs, YouTube… everything I could find on personal branding.
After my investigation, I decided, it was time to do something differently. And if this is how- I’m ok with it.
In January 2022 I posted my first post on LinkedIn. A week later I posted my second one. I wanted to observe what would happen. A month later I still had 2 arms, 2 legs, all my hair, and no harm was done, I decided to go all in.
So on the 18th of February, I posted a post announcing that from that day onwards I would be posting content regularly.
A month later I hit 1000 followers. A week after that, my inbox filled with inbound leads. Companies offering me a job. People asking me to take them on as a client and help them grow on the platform. And just like that a week later I signed my first client!
That’s where it all started. I worked full-time remotely for a few months as a Community Manager. I did a part-time internship at a personal branding agency. I worked with other personal branding agencies as a contractor.
Opportunities just flew in and I kept saying yes.
By the time I graduated, I knew I wanted to pursue this. I knew I had so much to offer and that I was good at what I do. I could see the impact on my client’s businesses and I was ready to amplify it.
Today I help service-based business owners leverage their LinkedIn profiles and save them hours weekly.
My clients regularly appear on podcasts, sell out their in-person conferences, convert their audience into paying clients, attend events as speakers and so much more.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
When it comes to lead generation so many business owners hope that their clients will magically find them and give them money after the first point of contact.
Sadly, it’s not how it works.
Lead generation is a process that requires strategy, action plan and execution. Many people nail the strategy and action plan part but they fail on the execution.
90% of my clients came from LinkedIn. And this is often the reality for my client’s too.
So how do you turn your audience into paying clients?
First, start with posting content that talks about your target audience’s pain points. Don’t just address them. Position yourself and your business as a solution to your target audience’s problems. Post this type of content consistently.
Consistently build your network. Connect with people who fit your target audience. Attend online and offline networking events and seek people out. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.
Talk to people in the DMs. You will often hear that messages are where the magic happens. That’s because it’s true. It’s a great place to connect on a deeper level, get to know what they struggle with, and offer them a solution if you can help. Be genuine in your DMs and don’t just pitch slap people. Show them that you care.
Combine your content strategy, consistent networking, and building relationships in the DMs and you will be in a great place to find your next client.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Investment in yourself or your business isn’t a waste of money.
Asking for the help you need is crucial. But there comes a time when your friends won’t have the answers because they aren’t business owners. Your parents won’t know how to help because they aren’t in your shoes.
That’s when you need to find the right people and pay them for their expertise.
It feels like a cost at first.
But every time I invested in a coach, a graphic designer, a VA, etc I leveled up. Both personally and professionally.
Investments are scary but they are a fast track to unlocking the next level.
