Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vidhi Bansal. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Vidhi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
Honestly, I often wonder what it’d be like to have a regular job. Sometimes, when things get tough, it seems like it might be easier elsewhere. Back in school, I was good at math and science, so people always asked if I’d be an engineer like my family. But that didn’t excite me.
Sure, a normal job might offer more stability, but it wouldn’t give me the same feeling of pride I get from creating amazing visuals and worlds for brands to be able to tell their unique stories, express themselves, for film directors to be able to see a glimpse of their vision come to life or to be able to tell your own story but set in a world slightly different from this one.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a World Builder and Real-Time 3D Visualizer specializing in crafting immersive experiences for entertainment productions, short films, and game cinematics. My fascination with worldbuilding, architecture, and storytelling dates back to my childhood. I used to lose myself in the realms of dystopian stories, science fiction, and fantasy, imagining myself as a resident of these captivating universes.
My educational journey led me to study architecture at CEPT University in India, where I gained valuable insights into the intricacies of real-world design. However, I yearned for a more imaginative and unrestrained creative process. This desire ultimately led me to SCI-Arc’s Fiction and Entertainment course.
Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of designing captivating worlds for entertainment productions collaborating with renowned brands such as FIFA, Tommy Hilfiger, Red Bull, Usher, and many more. Additionally, I’ve lent my creative expertise to the realm of animations and motion graphics, contributing my talents to projects for respected names like Marvel Snap, Grounded, Xbox, and Samsung.
My journey has been marked by a dedication to honing both my creative and technical skills within the game engine pipeline. Drawing from my background in architecture, I bring a discerning eye for composition and lighting that distinguishes my work, infusing each project with a unique sense of design composition.
Looking ahead, my aspirations are firmly rooted in becoming an art director specializing in game engines for branding, short film and game cinematics. I’m driven by the desire to continue designing and crafting worlds and experiences that tell thought-provoking stories, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the realm of virtual storytelling.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
The biggest pivot in my life was deciding to not pursue traditional architecture, take a shot in the dark and explore virtual ‘world building’. This, I decided in my third year of architecture school, and it was not an easy decision. However difficult architecture is as a profession (and trust me, it is NOT easy), it still had a certain sense of security tied to it. Relinquishing that security to tie to break into an industry known for being cutthroat was quite a daunting decision, but an important one. My current work life has its own unique challenges, but I truly couldn’t be happier anywhere else.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My current work as the Chief Experience Officer at Curiouser.AI has brought an extremely fresh perspective into the way I viewed the utility of my work. At Curiouser, we aim to design an AI experience that reimagines the way humanity currently engages with AI. The goal for me now, in my current journey is to be able to honestly and sincerely design this experience ensuring that we create AI that makes humanity smarter rather than the other way round.
