We recently connected with Videep & Dheer and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Videep & Dheer, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Around the world, young people often don’t get a say in big decisions or research, or when they do, it is pure tokenism. That’s why we started The World in Pages, a youth-led political science journal, which addresses this gap by amplifying marginalized voices and positioning youth at the heart of global media, policymaking and academic research. What started with a call for collaboration in the Summer of Grade 8, when Dheer was at his Grandmother’s house at the peak of summer vacation, has transformed into a profound academic journal.

Videep, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Over the last three years, we have developed a truly diverse team, from high school freshmen in Singapore to college students at UC Berkeley, the University of Chicago, and Harvard. To this day, we’ve interviewed over 20 leading educators and professionals including Dr Ibrahim Elbadawi (Sudan’s Former Finance Minister) and Dr Harry Verhoeven, Founder of the University China-Africa Network at Oxford University. Excitingly, we are also currently in the process of contributing a chapter to the University of Cambridge’s upcoming Companion on Sudan’s Civil Wars.
By December 2025, we aim to have published 9 editions, including our current work on Nagorno Karabakh, shedding light on a three decade conflict resulting in the displacement of hundreds of thousands, yet barely gets talked about. Over the next four months, we plan to grow our readership and form partnerships with schools across ASEAN, being featured in libraries and curriculums. We want The World in Pages to help students from around the world to understand multiple perspectives and shed light on global issues that the media does not consider ‘attention worthy’.
The goal of this new series is to give small business owners and creatives a place to connect with, learn from, and get inspired by their peers.
On this page, there are two more questions we’d like to have you respond to. There is a dropdown for each, please select a question in each of the two dropdowns and provide your response in the empty field/box directly below the given dropdown.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my Co–Founder, Dheer, in Middle School. We bonded over a shared obsession in our Grade 8 Humanities class. After a long call where I complained to him about how it wasn’t fair that some conflicts weren’t getting nearly enough attention (after reading Prisoners of Geography by Tim Marshall), we decided to stop complaining and build something ourselves. That night, we created the first rough framework for The World in Pages. It wasn’t glamorous, just two kids, a shared Jamboard (which has since been discontinued from the google suite), and a conviction that young people deserved a platform to contribute meaningfully to global discourse. That foundation still shapes our leadership today.

Have you ever had to pivot?
As we have gotten through the process of our Featured Editions, we have realized the profound impact real-world narratives have. As much as it is an honour and enriching to have academic experts and professionals to provide insights on key issues and conflicts, the true physical and emotional impact cannot be conveyed and told to the same degree that someone who has experienced can. Through this process we understood that speaking to somebody who has actively experienced the conflict we are referring to, we can convey the significance of the issue and the necessity of solutions to our audience, and give others to share their stories with others, acting as an alternative to platforms that often overlook such stories.
