We were lucky to catch up with Victoria Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Victoria , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?
I’ve been in the esthetic industry just shy of 5 years but I’ve been a business owner for 2 years. At first, I started small. One skincare line a few clients and a very small room. After 6 months of being in business I quickly out grew the space that I was in. I then moved my business to a much bigger room to accommodate more clients and services. After moving I noticed an increase in clientele. While also offering more services to my demographic. My business grew somewhat quickly but only because I put years of my life into learning, new techniques, building relationships, and schooling. Together I have 4 years of schooling under my belt.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi, my name is Victoria but most people call me Tori. I’m 23 years old and a skincare junkie. My whole life I knew I wanted my career to be in the beauty industry I just wasn’t sure what category. It wasn’t until my senior year of high school that I new I wanted to be an esthetician. I knew that I wanted to help people feel even more confident in their skin. Reveling their natural beauty for them to see. I take pride in knowing that my clients trust me. Trust that I would never steer them in the wrong direction. My clientele is everything to me because without them I wouldn’t be where I am today.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Social media has been the most effective way for me to grow my business/clientele. Although I am not the best with social media I did recently hire a social media marketing advisor and she has been a lifesaver!! She has helped so much with my social media. It takes fewer task off my shoulders. Hiring her has been an amazing business move.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Being your authentic self on social media is key. You want to build true relationships. People tend to interact more if you show yourself.
