Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Victoria Voos. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Victoria, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One deeply underappreciated facet of being an entrepreneur or creative is the kind of crazy stuff that happens from time to time. It could be anything from a disgruntled client attacking an employee or waking up to find out a celebrity gave you a shoutout on TikTok – the sudden, unexpected hits (both positive and negative) make the profession both exhilarating and exhausting. Can you share one of your craziest stories?
An important part about growing on social media is participating in trends. If you can get it *just* right you might have a shot at going viral and getting your content seen by lots of new people.
When I saw the “2022 dating wrapped” trend going around I knew I had to share my dating experience. The idea of the trend is to have a slide show presentation with data about your 2022 dating experience. You might see things like how many first dates were had, what dating site you met the person on etc.
I crafted a cute little presentation all about the dumpster fire that was my romantic life and it went viral!! I got over a million views and ended up being featured in all sorts of overseas articles about my video.
I really enjoyed sharing my sense of humor and being able to find people who could relate to what I went through with online dating. The best part is I was dating someone when I posted that video and we are now talking about moving in together. I guess things just work out sometimes.
Victoria, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started taking the whole influencer thing seriously back in 2020 when a friend convinced me I could do it. I took courses and did lots of research about how to grow on social media as FlyForAGinger. My focus is on plus size fashion, sharing my journey with psoriasis and general lifestyle content.
My main platform is Instagram but I am also very active on TikTok. I love to empower others to love themselves and feel confident in their own skin. Having an online presence where I can have a community of other plus size babes has been so fulfilling and rewarding.
I have gotten to meet some of the nicest people and made friends with folks I never would have met in real life if it wasn’t for my little corner of the internet. If you’re interested in plus size fashion, unapologetic humor and empowerment then come say hello!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Taking classes or hiring a business coach is SO helpful! You don’t know what you don’t know and baby there is a LOT to know. When you first start you don’t realize just how much work goes into growing on social media.
From filming content to scheduling and engaging with your online audience, it can be a full time just in itself.
You also need to make sure to stay up-to-date with FTC guidelines. While getting partnerships and collaborations is fun and exciting, you must follow FTC regulations when you post. Being transparent with your audience is vital for maintaining trust!
Last bit of advice is to be yourself. Being authentic is the best way to find your people. Hope this helps :)
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The connection and community is the best part for me. I love being able to share my life with an audience and have that turn into a bunch of 1:1 conversations. I have had the pleasure of making friends from all over thanks to having an online presence.
Also, being plus size it’s quite common to feel left out in a friend group and difficult to find an accepting community. Creating a safe and welcoming space for my fellow plus size babes is as much helpful for others as it is for me. I get to just be me and they get to be themselves with me!
