We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Victoria Voos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Victoria below.
Hi Victoria, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
All it took for me was a friend telling me “you could be an influencer”. I didn’t believe her at first but once she said it a second time that’s all it took.
I decided to really dive into it and I invested time and money. I took classes (shout out to Brianne Huntsman) and made friends who were also plus size size and had an online presence. At first I didn’t have a clear idea of what my motivation was other than proving I could do it. As I took classes and learned more I realized my motivation was about creating a community and providing a safe and inclusive space for my fellow plus size babes.
Now I talk plus size fashion along with my struggles with Psoriasis. On my stories you can find me talking about pretty much anything under the sun. Often times I share stories about my dating life, sex tips as a plus size woman, products I love and what I am up to on the daily.
I’ve really found having an online presence so fulfilling. I love the attention, the connection with my audience and the amazing 1:1 conversations I get to have with people from all around the world I wouldn’t be able to know if it wasn’t for being online.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a full time social media and marketing manager for a beauty consumer research firm called The Benchmarking Company. In my spare time I am on social media as FlyForAGinger. I also have a blog FlyForAGinger.com and assist other brands and influencers with their own social media presence as well.
I’m so honored to have found my passion in social media and get to use it every day to connect with an audience!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me it’s all about serving my audience. Not only do I love to entertain and make people laugh, I also like to educate and inspire with my content. I show very vulnerable and real parts of me and my life that others can connect with.
My favorite part is receiving messages from folks telling me I inspired them to wear a crop top for the first time or they are motivated to get back into dating after seeing my stories. It can be a lot of hard work but it’s totally worth it if I can impact someone else’s life in a positive way!
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Having a supportive community is key and it’s easier to do now more than ever with social media. I suggest finding your people by supporting their work and connecting with those who are doing what you want to do!
I wouldn’t be where I am without having other creatives in my life cheering me on and listening to me when I need to vent.
