We were lucky to catch up with Victoria Sharpe recently and have shared our conversation below.
Victoria, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I worked on was for a buyer who requested an art piece with the name “Eternal glance”. They left me with complete artistic freedom. I meditated on what I felt about the name and allowed new ideas to come to me. I was lead to studying the Kongo cosmogram and African Cosmology. Of course this was an enlightening time for me because I love and respect all aspects of African spirituality and studies. Through learning African cosmology and resonating with the teachings I found, I was able to unlock new things within myself. I was also able to create a beautiful piece of art.
Victoria, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Victoria Sharpe. I am an artist and this line of work found me in some of my darkest times & was my way to the light. I love to create in all aspects. I paint, I build, and I design. My portfolio consist of resin art, oil/acrylic painting, building bed frames, drawers and so much more. I am most proud of staying consistent with doing something that makes me happy, something that I truly feel like my purpose is.
In potential clients, followers, etc, I would like to welcome all walks of life & I would like them to be open to continuously learning and getting to know themselves. By this, I will know we can communicate in a way that helps me produce the best piece of art for them. I would like them to enjoy the journey of the content, the art, and the growth that is to come with my business.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the need for perfection and control. (this is something I constantly remind myself of when creating)
The backstory on why I had to let this go is because beauty will be made regardless of what I do, if my heart is in the right place. Creativity has no room for walls, its needs to be infinite. I never want to hold myself back from all I can do, sometimes your plan will be small compared to what you can actually do. I have seen this in some of the best mistakes I have ever created with art
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The process. I truly feel like I become a better person each time I create. Each time I create I feel one step closer to understanding and loving.
