We recently connected with Victoria Rosas and have shared our conversation below.
Victoria, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
If I could go back in time, I would start my journey right alongside the opening of Roses Esthetics in the heart of the Poconos in 2023. My path began when I became a licensed esthetician in 2019, embarking on the entrepreneurial journey I always envisioned, driven by the desire to be my own boss and the understanding that true growth requires starting from the bottom, learning every aspect, and working my way up. Roses Esthetics is a reflection of my journey to embrace inner beauty and self-confidence, and the name holds personal significance, inspired by my last name, Rosas, which means “rose” in English. Originally from Queens, New York, I grew up with a birthmark that was a source of pain and insecurity, and at five and six, I underwent surgery to remove it due to cancer risks. My early dreams revolved around law and criminal justice, but a pivotal call from my mother led me to beauty school—a path that connected me to my grandmother’s legacy as a 1970s cosmetologist and ultimately shifted my focus to self-love and skincare. Each lesson and every experience has shaped my journey, from learning under established spa owners in the Poconos to building Roses Esthetics into a space where others can feel beautiful and empowered. To aspiring estheticians, follow your heart, and let your unique story fuel your journey; the beauty industry is full of growth and fulfillment, and while the road to self-employment is challenging, it is profoundly rewarding.

Victoria, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
At 28, I am proud to be the owner of Roses Esthetics and co-owner of Royal Sparkle Cleaning Services in the Poconos. My journey began at The Beauty Institute in Allentown, PA, where I balanced a full-time job with evening classes to become a licensed esthetician. Roses Esthetics offers personalized skincare services, including facials, brow laminations, lash lifts, and full-body waxing, all tailored to individual needs. Our private studio provides a relaxing, one-on-one experience with refreshments, making every visit a comfortable and rejuvenating escape. As a Hispanic business owner, I am thrilled to see Roses Esthetics grow, especially through our collaboration with Bodied by Destiny, introducing body contouring services and welcoming a new esthetician. Our Sunday specials for waxing and commitment to quality ensure clients leave feeling confident and supported on their self-care journey. Roses Esthetics is dedicated to enhancing natural beauty and guiding clients toward a more radiant self.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A pivotal moment that required me to navigate significant shifts in my business, career, and personal life occurred during my time as an esthetician at Hand and Stone. While transitioning from my job to fully establishing my own business, I meticulously prepared, securing my LLC, completing essential documentation, and organizing paperwork to meet bank and business requirements. Just as I was making progress, I faced a personal loss that deeply affected me, challenging my focus and energy. Needing time to recalibrate, I pivoted by working for a cleaning company, which allowed me to maintain stability and provided space to process my emotions, regain clarity, and ultimately refocus on my entrepreneurial goals. This experience tested my resilience and deepened my understanding of the balance needed to navigate life’s unexpected turns while pursuing my dreams.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
Roses Esthetics emerged from personal loss and a resilient spirit, built from the ground up through dedication and hard work. After beginning my journey with Platinum Cleaning Services in New Jersey, I invested everything I had, commuting tirelessly to fund my dream of starting an esthetics business. When an unexpected layoff threatened my income and brought uncertainty, I pressed forward, trusting that my determination would sustain me. During this difficult time, I focused on building my social media presence and refining sales strategies to attract clients. A pivotal blessing came in meeting Mia, my best friend, and business partner, who brought encouragement and shared ambition. Together, we co-founded Royal Sparkle Cleaning Services in the Poconos, expanding our vision. Though moments of self-doubt led me briefly to work for a competitor, Mia’s support helped me realize my potential, guiding me to commit fully to entrepreneurship. Roses Esthetics and Royal Sparkle Cleaning Services are built on the belief that challenges become stepping stones; through passion, persistence, and friendship, I transformed uncertainty into thriving businesses that reflect strength and community.
