We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Victoria Miller. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Victoria below.
Victoria, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I come from a family of 6, and I am one of 4 children. I am also a triplet! I am originally from Baltimore, MD. I started performing as a dancer when I was 4 years old. And when I was 6 years old, my siblings and I had our first professional audition for the film, Little Fockers, with Ben Stiller. I remember sending in our audition tape and getting called back to meet the producers in New York. It was the coolest experience! At the age of 8, I began vocal training with a private instructor at the Johns Hopkins Peabody Institute Conservatory, inspired by my love for Taylor Swift. I was seriously her biggest fan! Then, when I was about 9 years old, my siblings and I started getting involved in theatre. In 2012, my family filmed a Major League Baseball commercial for the Baltimore Orioles! Shortly after, I filmed a commercial for Carefirst Bluecross Blueshield health insurance.
I began studying and training seriously at the age of 11, after being accepted into TWIGs, a program with the Baltimore School for the Arts. During my first years of training, I studied with veteran Broadway and professional artists, culminating in multiple performances at the Hippodrome Theatre in downtown Baltimore. Throughout middle and high school I was very involved in theatre. It was during my transition from middle school into high school, that I decided I wanted to pursue acting, specifically television and film work professionally. I was in my first short film at 15 years old, and since then, I have been blessed to be in 15 on-stage theatrical productions, 4 films, and an independent television pilot.

Victoria, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Currently, I am a full-time college student at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. I am pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, with a concentration in Social Entrepreneurship and minors in Marketing and Theatre. I chose this field of study because I believe lasting change occurs when we find innovative and creative solutions to complex problems. Some specific areas of passion for me include advocating for girls’ education in developing countries and applying entrepreneurship, filmmaking, and the performing arts to empower youth to tell their stories and make a difference in their communities. Coming from a family where my parents made many sacrifices for me to have the best education possible, I hope to apply what I’ve learned to inspire others. Earlier this year in March, I traveled to Kenya at the conclusion of a 6-month-long project with a nonprofit called Global Give Back Circle. I had the honor of teaching 50 young women about Entrepreneurship, guiding them through the process of finding to funding a business idea. I also love exploring the outdoors (especially fishing, hiking, and rock climbing) and living out my faith as a Catholic!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My journey as an artist and a social entrepreneur is primarily driven by a goal to tell or empower others to tell authentic stories. I believe that when we tell authentic stories whether it be through art or activism, we can change the world for the better. I also strive to lead with love no matter what I do. I have come to recognize the many gifts and talents God has gifted me and I hope to use them to make a positive impact on the people and places that I encounter.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing your hard work come to fruition. I am currently working on developing and producing a feature film and although it will be a long and strenuous process, I know that seeing the final product will make it all worth it. From my experience being an actor in film and theatre, I love hearing audience feedback on how a story touched them or made them feel something. It is an honor to be able to have a part in portraying characters and telling stories that mean something special even to just one person. When working on creative projects, I also love collaborating and meeting new people. There have been multiple instances where I have continued to work with fellow creatives after working on one project together. Many creatives are very sensitive and empathetic people, so it is not uncommon to build last bonds with those with whom you work.
