We recently connected with Victoria Johnson and have shared our conversation below.
Victoria , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
It may sound strange, but I have found that I never needed to pursue a creative path; it has always been an intrinsic part of who I am and what I am called to do. Instead, I needed to learn how to step into this calling boldly. The pivotal moment for me was during my divorce. I never wanted that to be such an integral part of my story, but throughout that season, I learned a new level of healing and restoration that I had not been introduced to before. While I knew how to regulate my emotions, I needed new ways to express them. I needed to find my essence again.
My therapist at that time encouraged me to return to writing, knowing it was my first language. Initially, I despised the idea. I feared the raw, unfiltered emotions that might spill onto the page. However, through that long process, I began to find solace in the truth behind my words again. And again, and again. Writing became, once more, a tool that guided me into deep and open healing. No matter the season, space, reason, or need, writing has always found its way back to me. It has needed me as much as I have needed it.
Purpose found me quietly and loudly all at the same time. I have always loved writing and the community of people. Since childhood, although I did not speak much, I was always immersed in language. I wanted to know the stories of some and write the stories of many, including my own. I quickly realized, though, that my purpose expanded beyond “simply” writing. It extended to how I connected with people. Purpose found me through my willingness to serve and do my own healing work.
So, the first time I knew I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally was not a single moment but a journey of self-discovery and acceptance. It was about embracing my purpose and stepping boldly into what had always been a major part of who I am.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
By Victoria LLC and what I do as a whole is a space where authenticity and stability intertwine, creating the perfect environment for transformative self-discovery, acceptance, and awareness.
Community Healing, Writing and storytelling are the heart and soul of what I do. As a writer myself, I understand the power of crafting narratives that resonate deeply with readers—stories that not only captivate but also heal, encourage, inspire, and uplift. I’m not just a writer; I’m a multi-passionate individual dedicated to words. From serving as a trusted developmental editor for global publishing houses to running my personal business as a Writing Coach, Strategist, Guided Writer, Event Curator, and Speaker, I’ve immersed myself in every aspect of the writing world and the world of building healed communities.
What sets me apart is my commitment and embrace. If I go, we all go together. I am blessed to empower people to own their narratives and silence the doubts that hold them back. My reach extends far beyond the confines of any one place. Through mentoring sessions and speaking engagements, I’ve had the privilege of touching lives across continents, inspiring countless souls to unlock the healing potential of their words. I am currently creating and executing guided writing experiences in many spaces.
Words are more than just tools—they’re vehicles for personal growth and transformation. Every word I choose is carefully selected to nourish the soul and spark change. Language is the catalyst for telling the truth and healing. I believe my art lies in the realm of writing, storytelling, and the wellness of words. I believe in restorative and creative tools to help us heal. These elements are not just tools but the very heart and soul of what I do.
I am most proud of the transformative impact my work has on others. Witnessing the healing and empowerment of individuals through their own narratives is incredibly rewarding. The guided writing experiences I create are designed to foster personal growth and transformation. Additionally, I am excited about the continuous opportunities to inspire and mentor writers globally, helping them unlock their potential and embrace their true selves. My biological father died with so many dreams in draft mode. I am proud that through divorce, grief, major loss, parental death, and it all, I have finally decided to keep living.
My professional journey has been marked by dedication, passion, and resilience. It wasn’t and has not been easy by any means. Like any path worth taking, it came with its share of challenges. Overcoming these obstacles required a deep belief in the power of words and their ability to transform lives. It required not just simple prayers, but dedication to change. Circumstances and people may be the cause of our pain, but sometimes we are the reason why we stay in it. I stayed committed to my vision, continuously honing my craft, and embracing every opportunity to grow and learn. The support of a community that believes in the healing potential of writing was also instrumental in navigating the tough times.
Know that taking ownership heals you, community supports you, authenticity releases you, and your perseverance will always pay off. Stay the course.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There are many. More recently I watched my father die. I remember the time. I remember the smell in the room. I remember the heat leaving his body as his chest caved one final time. Sometimes, I can still hear his final gasp for air. It is a devastating beat. This moment taught me resilience in forgiveness. It taught me how to decide to reconcile with the ones who could no longer ask for forgiveness. For years I had felt abandoned by men, including my father and ex-husband. To watch him leave this earth softened me and reminded me that resilience finds us in the midst of tragedy but it teaches us in the midst of forgiveness.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Simply put, I wish I knew about more resources and funded opportunities! Many times, it is not that we are not capable of the work, we, as creatives, can feel defeated when the biggest stress is how we will pay bills. I wish I knew about courses and ways to become a much more skilled and proficient leader in my field. In all we do, I hope that we continue to be a student ( always and first).
