Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Victoria Holland . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Victoria , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Before opening Birch On Main, I was a regional Recruiter for Aveda ( A luxury hair care line) I have always loved people and went to Auburn for HR. Recruiting Was so much fun out of college but I soon realized I was spending more time traveling then spending time with my friends and family and quickly realized this was not the life I wanted. Fast forward, My little sister gets engaged and goes dress shopping and has a horrible time. Everywhere she went the people would not listen to what she wanted and would force their ideas on what she should wear. She got frustrated and I was called in from Nashville to go help her find her dream dress. That is when I saw a need in our area for a one on one bridal store that focused solely on the bride. A store where you are not just another person but where you feel special because it is a special moment shopping for your dream dress. I talked to my mom, and told her I really feel like this is something I could do and do well. I head back to Nashville, where I get sent to TX for work and fate intervened. When I land I have a missed call from my mom telling me there is a bridal store closing and if I wanted it , it was mine. So instead of buying a house in Nashville, I took a leap of faith and bought a Business. When I got to it it was simply taking over a lease, I had to rebrand, change the name, find new designers and figure out everything I could about this new crazy world of Bridal Fashion. I Took the risk, and said Im either going to sink or swim so lets go! Five years later I know own the largest Bridal Store in Huntsville, AL and just recently opened a second location. Taking the risk can be scary but you never know what will happen unless you try!

It is our pleasure to serve each and every bride that walks through our doors. We want you to not only leave with your dream dress but with more confidence and excited about your big day. We love helping each bride find their perfect bridal style and seeing the smiles on their face when they find THE dress is such a special moment we will always cherish. Our brides not only leave with a fabulous dress but a friend, each of our consultants love being able to follow our brides journey up to their wedding day and even after!
Since our new location, we have been able to add Tux/ suite rentals or to purchase for all the grooms or for any special occasion. As well as being able to now dress and serve our beautiful mother of the bride/grooms and grandmothers! Last but not least We can dress your whole “I do crew” we proudly carry a beautiful bridesmaid line whose quality is unmatched.
We Love being able to serve our beautiful Huntsville Brides and the surrounding areas and look forward to helping many more Brides find their dream dress!
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I love this question! I have THE best team and oh boy it was not an easy journey to this point. Finding the perfect team starts with your stores values and ideas. What values are important to your brand, and once you have those in place I truly feel like the right people will come to you. Once that team is in place the best advice I can give is to give them a place to grow and feel heard. I love having team meetings to go over ideas and listen to their concerns or needs as well and then follow through with them. If you give them a work place where they feel included they will take more intuitive to treat it as there business as well . Keeping Morale high comes down to those three things, listening, giving them room to grow, and then follow through.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Referrals, the most effective and best clients have always came from previous brides telling their friends. We pride ourselves on an exceptional customer service and making sure each Bride has the best time finding her dream dress!
