We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Victoria Garcia Martinez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Victoria below.
Victoria, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
Everything started with a huge passion for photography and art in general. I trained since the age of 4 to become a ballet dancer and although I had a Wonderfull career in theatres I always knew that the career would have end quite early. reason why I always followed my other big passion, photography. I bought my first ever reflex camera as I got my first pay check as professional dancer and watched tutorials every time I had time. I then started to take my camera with me most of the time, especially during my long travels to Asia when we had holidays in summer. I started posting some results I had created during those trips and it slowly opened my eyes to a new path, that is today my main job.
It has been a long journey and a lot of ups and downs of course, but my passion has always given me enough strength to go on, to persevere and to focus and what I really wanted to do.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I bought my very first camera around 8 years ago and started posting on social channels around 6/7 years ago. It took me then 7 years more or less to get where I am and these have been super intense years of ups and downs, of learning but also of stepping back many times. after many years of hard work I built up my own small agency based in Germany, where for the moment work just me and my partner and I mainly work as content creator and photographer for hotels chains/ resorts and fashion brands. I also work a lot with social channels promotions always for luxury hotels and resorts such as fashion labels from all around the world.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I started to really dedicate time to post on social media channels around 6 years ago. I mainly focused on travel content and many of my posts went viral at that time. It was an easy time for social media channels to grow up and it was the time when everything slowly started and it felt beautiful the feeling of being part of this revolution in the way of sharing content on internet and also advertising and promoting travels and fashion. I got slowly contacted by fashion brands and hotels chains, offering me exchange collaborations that could have given me the chance and the motivation to create in the sense of their aesthetics but still respecting my style. That path took me then to the point t of being paid for what I was doing and nowadays through my agency I am able to focus on those brands and chains I really like and enjoy to work with and it is simply super exciting.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I’ve always had a big passion for art since I was a child. Before I used to to use those energies and passion for my dance career and then I was able to focus a lot on photography only. I love the thing that my current job gives me the freedom of traveling a lot, of meeting new people and people that does the same job as I/we do. This job gives me the chance of feeling home no matter where on this planet and feeling part of something big and important.
It gives me the chance to explore and learn day by day all my possibilities and fight again my limitations.
