We recently connected with Victoria Evans and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Victoria thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
After I left the streets being a police officer I took some time to work on my mental health from all of things I saw and experienced. During my time off I wanted to find a creative way to vent and get my thoughts out. I’ve always had an interest in music since I was in elementary school. So I decided to hit up a friend to show me the foundation of creating a song. Tim Weaver is a great artist and long time friend so I knew he would be the perfect person to teach me what to do! That’s where we created the song Changed. From that moment on I began writing my own music! After putting out my first couple songs I received a lot of love! I didn’t expect to get the attention that I did! At that moment I knew I just stepped into my purpose!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
A rich vocal powerhouse, Victoria Danielle captivates audiences with a voice that exudes both power and vulnerability. Rising the ranks of the R&B world, she is known for her sultry vocals that mingle with a smooth rhythm. Her music is both relatable and raw, with emotional lyrics that cut deep, exploring themes of love, self-reflection, and resilience. Whether an upbeat anthem or a slow ballad, her music exudes an undeniable energy that captures attention and leaves a lasting impression.
Born and raised in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Victoria Danielle found her love for music at an early age, singing in church choirs and performing with her friends at school talent shows. However, as she grew older, she took a step back from music to explore other interests. Victoria rediscovered her passion for music when she pursued a career in law enforcement. Working as a police officer, she found herself needing an outlet to cope with the stress and emotional toll of the job. She turned to songwriting, using music to express the feelings she couldn’t quite put into words. One of her first songs was born from this period of introspection, and to her surprise, it resonated with people in ways she never imagined.
That initial success set Victoria on a new path, as she rediscovered her true calling. She sent her music to hip-hop artist, Fat Joe, not knowing what to expect. To her amazement, he not only listened to it but also reached out to her personally. Impressed by her talent, he featured her on his mixtape, giving her exposure on a much larger platform. This unexpected connection with a music industry veteran confirmed what she had already started to feel—that she was meant to share her voice with the world.
As her career began to take off, Victoria faced many challenges, both personal and professional. As a single mother raising two boys, she’s had to balance her responsibilities as a parent with the demands of building a music career from scratch. Financial struggles, including experiencing homelessness twice with her children, tested her perseverance. Despite these hardships, she remained committed to her craft. For Victoria Danielle, music is more than a hobby or job—it’s her purpose. Her journey has taken her to major cities like Atlanta and Charlotte, where she’s performed at showcases and connected with key players in the industry. Her first performance was a whirlwind experience—she had little time to prepare and had to rely solely on faith. To her surprise, she won the showcase, earning enough money to cover her trip home. The experience also opened doors for her, leading to more performances and opportunities.
Though her path hasn’t been easy, Victoria continues to push forward, guided by her faith and the belief that she’s walking in her purpose. As she builds her fanbase, she remains authentic and focused on delivering music that connects with people on a deeper level. More than anything, her goal is to inspire others with her story, showing them that no matter the obstacles, you can achieve anything if you stay true to yourself. With personal lyrics, her songs explore the complexities of relationships, love, and intimacy, while touching upon feelings of disappointment and self-doubt. Victoria’s ability to weave vulnerability into her lyrics while maintaining a strong, empowering presence is part of what makes her music so captivating. Her music is more than just entertainment—it’s a reflection of her life, her struggles, and her triumphs. With a glamorous style, full-bodied vocals, and a heart full of passion, Victoria Danielle is speaking her truth through music, sharing the stories and lessons she’s gained along the way.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to connect with so many fans! Create genuine bonds through your stories with people who understand what it is you’re talking about in your music.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Staying true to self while trying to still cater to whatever is trending. At some point we just listened to what had a catchy beat and dropped paying attention to the words/lyrics of a song. Some artist are still true to the form music had when it held a bigger purpose! Don’t get me wrong, there’s some really good music out there!! But some of it is being overshadowed by what can make a TikTok trend or viral dance.
