We were lucky to catch up with Victoria E. Henderson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Victoria, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
This is a very timely question indeed. I celebrated my 58th birthday on August 18th. I was and am just grateful to be here. Having survived Covid, while watching so many I knew succumb to it, was very hard indeed. That was in January 2021. I believe that God spared my life for a purpose, and it is my responsibility to daily live in such a way to fulfill that purpose. Part of that purpose is to inspire others to keep pushing, I use my life experiences to show the world that if they keep moving forward despite difficulty, good things are coming! That God is with them no matter what those situations look and feel like.
I also sell jewelry which I use to inspire my customers to be beautiful on the inside and out. This is legacy for me. To inspire others to be their best selves as we travel this thing called life.
My lasting legacy, I pray, will be the lessons I am teaching my children. They have a front row seat to my physical ailments and see how their mom pushes to make her dreams come true. I have fibromyalgia and arthritis but I press forward daily. I want to stop the cycle in my family from the mindset of not reaching your full potential. To have them take their place as fully contributing members of society who show compassion and empathy will be my lasting legacy indeed.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am, first of all, simply joy. I show up in the world daily with joy in my heart and love as well. I am also a woman who wears many hats. I am very proud of the fact that I am an author. My first book was published in July 2019, followed by the accompanying journal in September 2021. The book, When I Need A Word, God Speaks!, is derived from the best of my blogs that was established in 2011. I started with the blog after sending emails to my family and friends with words of encouragement from everyday experiences. I believe that God speaks to me in many ways and when He does, it is my responsibility to share His words with those who need it. About three years ago, I was invited to co-host an internet radio show by authors for authors. Along with Andrea L. Hines and Ruth E. Griffin, Authors Up is a forum for those who want to understand more of the writing process through tips and tools as well as a place where new and established authors can come and talk about their work. We started as just radio and in July of last year, we started doing our program live! Our program is now able to be viewed on YouTube and can be heard as a podcast on the same forums where many podcasts are being heard. What a journey this has been for us! We have been able to offer contests and writing challenges and we have been listened to internationally as well. Each week, we just have fun and a time spent talking to my girlfriends and new friends! We air live on Facebook and Streaming International Broadcasting Network at 7 pm EST each Sunday night.
I also sell Paparazzi jewelry under the name Victoria’s Treasure Box. I am inspiring my customers to be beautiful inside and out with each piece I sell. I am having an amazing time as an Entrepreneur and have learned so much more about myself as I push to be the best for myself and my people, who I have donned as Treasureville.
What sets me apart from anyone else is the joy I have that is evident in all I do. I am happy to talk to others about the love of Christ, how to navigate the storms of life, and how to not look like what you have been through.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I have had the opportunity to learn from a few people who understand how to navigate through social media and how to use it as a tool to grow my customer base. Most importantly, it is not just about growing the base but to retain the customers I have. That means excellent customer service by making them feel special and that is through engagement. Engagement is key and the posts are not always about my book or the jewelry. I make posts about any and everything and then comment back to each person who answers on the post. I will also select a few people and comment on their posts just tell them that I was thinking about them. On those, I do not speak about jewelry or my books either. Connecting with people is the key to growing a strong following.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with my first jewelry customers on a private VIP Facebook Messenger group. This core group was with me from the very beginning, and I send morning and evening thoughts to them. I also let them know they are special through voice messages and provide them the first opportunity to purchase new and special pieces before I post it to my larger VIP Facebook page. I also talk to this group frequently. In my Messenger group, I know the birthdays for all and will send a free piece with a card for their special day. It is those things that will make your people feel cared for and my group knows how much I appreciate and love them.
