We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Victoria Collings. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Victoria below.
Alright, Victoria thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
When I first started my business my biggest client was a record label. When I talked to my family about the direction that I was wanting to go, my dad suggested that I call my business “On Cue” as it related to music, but also because Q is the first letter of my son’s nickname. As I started looking into options for names that were available, I liked the idea of “Queue” because I design content and create marketing strategies, then add them to the queue to be posted. I wanted to make sure that the name also highlighted my design background, and the idea of a logo merging a C and a Q motivated me to move forward with The Creative Queue.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Victoria Watterson Collings and I recently started a business that offers digital marketing services such as social media management, digital design, and content creation. I studied Fashion Marketing and Management and minored in Music Production at the Savannah College of Art and Design – and I absolutely loved my time there. After college, I pursued my dreams of working in marketing in the entertainment industry and landed a dream job in Nashville, Tennessee at one of Sony Music Entertainment’s record labels. I worked on the marketing team there until my husband was offered a new job that took us to Atlanta, Georgia. We moved to Georgia shortly after our son was born, so I knew that I wanted my next career move to allow me the flexibility to also care for my son. I started my own business called The Creative Queue and now I work with multiple clients within the entertainment industry to reach and grow their audiences on various digital platforms through executing strategic marketing plans and creating captivating content.

Any fun sales or marketing stories?
I created a viral post for a client within the first week of working with her, and at the time she had less than 100 followers on that platform. I had recently finished onboarded this new client and promised a minimum of deliverables within a period of time. When I take on new clients I like to overdeliver, especially at the beginning, so I decided to create and share more Instagram Reels for this client within the first month to make sure that we were seeing the growth that I had planned for. Normally I get approvals from clients before sharing anything to their profiles, but in this scenario this client was on a trip out of the country so I took a risk and decided to go for it, trusting that she would love the result. Within minutes the reel had gone viral and was more successful than anything I had ever seen. I used this as a lesson to trust my intuition instead of limiting myself because of false boundaries that I had set. It acted as a reminder to me that I do know what I’m doing, and years of education and experience have prepared me to create results at this level for my clients.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I’m a huge fan of podcasts so I try to listen to as many educational and motivation episodes as possible. I love podcasts about marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, etc. There’s always more to learn and it’s important to be open to evolving as things change.
