We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Victoria Cerise a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?

As a Catholic Wedding Photographer, I wanted to choose a name that honors Our Lady and one that embodies romance and joy! When my husband and I started looking at ideas, we looked at the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Litany of the BVM is very near and dear to our hearts, as we prayed it throughout our engagement and right before our wedding ceremony! My husband was reciting the titles in the Litany, and as he said Mystical Rose, we looked at each other and we both knew it was the one!

Victoria, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am a wedding photographer that specializes in photographing Catholic weddings! I love what I do! I started my photography business with the intention of actually focusing on family/maternity/newborn photography. But, after attending a few friends weddings, I realized that there was such a need for photographers who truly understand the important moments of Mass. And I fell in love with working with couples! I love that we can connect deeply on our Faith and that I can help show the world the beauty of Catholic marriages.

How did you build your audience on social media?

I started my photography Instagram in March 2021. I gathered followers from family/friends, and some followers that were from my personal page. I was able to gather a couple hundred from all of those people. However, it took a lot of time and intention to get to the 8K I have now! The biggest factor was creating reels and creating content that actually serves my audience. Instead of making content with just my photography, I would use the reel or post to provide value and help my clients! For instance, I made a several part series about “How to Honor Our Lady on your Wedding day” to help Catholic brides with some good ways to do that!!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding thing is that I get to show the world the beauty of Catholicism through my work! It is so beautiful to take a God-centered couple and show their love for eachother and for God! I love it! 😊
