Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Victoria Carlo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Victoria, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I grew up watching my mom and dad manage their businesses, which inspired me to want something of my own as well. I often played by arranging toys and food to create a store in my room, then I would call my mom and dad to come and buy from it. I believe that’s how it all started. Eventually, I told my parents that I would love to have a store, and they helped me create one.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Victoria Carlo. I am 6 years old and live in Killeen, Texas. I have a small pop-up store called Victoria’s Store. In my store, I sell toys, candies, jewelry for boys and girls, T-shirts for boys and girls, stickers, colorful pens, and girls’ makeup. I love my store, which is mostly pink because that’s one of my favorite colors. I am shy and still learning my numbers, so my mom often helps me with my customers. I am very proud of myself because I’m learning to manage and invest my store money so that when I grow up, it can become a really big store. I am thankful for my mom and dad for helping me make my dream come true. I also want to tell you that we’re starting my very own Victoria’s Store – Hair Glitter, and it will be available just at my store! I’m really looking forward to coming up with more cool products after that. Stay tuned!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
As I mentioned, I’m just 6 years old, and of course, I really want to have one of everything I sell in my store! So, I made a super fun deal with my mom. She said I could have one of each item we sell, which is awesome! I told her I just need to try everything out to make sure it’s all great, haha!

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
When my dad and mom decided to make my dream of having a store come true, I was very happy. However, I honestly didn’t have enough money in my piggy bank. So, my mom and dad invested their money to help me start my business. After that, I used my own money to buy more toys and other items for my store. My store is only open on Saturdays inside my dad’s detailing shop because I don’t have school that day, making it easy for me to run it. I am very thankful to my mom and dad for helping me with everything.
