Victor, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents created the best opportunities for me regardless of whether they understood my interests or not, they’ve been primary providers for all the necessities I needed throughout my track and field career . They have also been present throughout my career to support and encourage me to do better each time I have a chance to which
Victor, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m East African and I loved track and field for as long as I can remember but never really got serious with it until I moved to the United States in 2020 . Once I did , it became a dream of mine to become a division one level athlete and compete at the highest level which I achieved in a spun of two years . I think this specific attribute makes me unique because not a lot of athletes get to compete at the division one level especially after taking part in the sport for only two years . I think this shows off my hard work and commitment on many levels. This is also my most prestigious accomplishment
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think the most rewarding aspect in being a track and field athlete is setting a goal ,working towards the goal and finally achieving the goal . The sensation you feel for manifesting your own success in just one specific aspect of your life opens your mind to how many more aspects you’d set right in your life if you applied the same theory to them and I think it’s a very exciting possibility just thinking about the success you can achieve and the person you can become doing this because it’s a very satisfying process .
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Coming from a family that always performs beyond expectations , I felt like I was was obligated to generate the same results regardless of what I chose to do because I was afraid of being an outlier . This put mental stress on me and I forgot to enjoy the process and the opportunities while I had them . Today I understand the importance of patience and persistence regardless of a result because I do believe in the process getting worse before it could better especially for those trying to better themselves
