We recently connected with Victor Romero and have shared our conversation below.
Victor , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Yes! I do make living tattooing ,selling clothes and prints. My journey of how I made it? To have made it would mean past tense. I believe it’s neither past or present. Although having foresight is a good tool. Being an artist would be just that! (Being). Waking up every morning and ((making)) it happen!
Hi my name is Sonny2tone I’m am an artist and I make things happen!
I’ve always have been a creative kid and the older I get. I feel I owe it to myself and the world to out best myself.
I’ve been tattooing for 16 to 17 years. The cloths really came in to play when I actually made some money to buy new thread’s (clothes) and realize I did not like anything out in stores also felt I had better ideas.
To be short with it, everything looked (SATANIC) or evil or college attire and lacked the child like whimsy older 90s cloths bring to the table.
I JUST WISH I STARTED YOUNGER

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Tripcat is a street art/streetwear brand. The brand is base around a cat that is on his ninth life, who has died so many times he’s has befriended the grim reapers son. Every time he dies Ronny the reaper sneaks him out of limbo. In hopes to teach the stubborn cat would learn his lesson about appreciation of life. You see Ronny struck a deal with his father .if he could save one damed soul. He would have his blessing on becoming an artist instead of a reaper .
Our mission statement would be to ; never give up and live like a cat on his 9th life.
At first you could only acquire my clothes by getting a tattoo or claiming on the street. Social media is a big tool.
Now it’s available to the public at tattoo conventions and local pop ups .

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Art is subjective, take criticism with a grain of salt ,learned who you are. so you can be who you are.
Walt DISNEY IS A BIG inspiration. I came up with the concept of tripcat while watching Walt’s life story (Tom hanks). The creation of Mickey Mouse was base on a mouse that lived in there studio. I looked over at my twin cats squealing at each other and had a creative hick up. A month later I had a silk screen press in my small apartment. Which forced me to make more money for a bigger house. To house the equipment. It’s been a creative circle ever since
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Nothing seems to be sacred anymore. With the rise of technology. Hand crafted works are cheap or affordable. I would say buy as much art now. Before we are all gone. People only seem to need artists around when a big life event happens something tragic or when they need to feel better in the human experience
