Victor Manuel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Often outsiders look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight. Even media and especially movies love to gloss over nitty, gritty details that went into that middle phase of your business – after you started but before you got to where you are today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. Can you talk to us about your scaling up story – what are some of the nitty, gritty details folks should know about?
I think one of the conditions is passion for what you do, perseverance and dedication are minimum factors that you must have naturally to achieve success.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
One day, while I was doing an illustrator course, my teacher showed me a demo reel… which is a compilation video of 3D companies where they showed me the potential of these new tools. I immediately started doing 3D daily without stopping because of my passion for this new way of working graphically and all its potential. In less than a year, the most important companies in Spain began to notice my work and so I managed to get into the advertising and television sector. Possibly one of the most important jobs was participating in the cinematography of Warhammer 40,000, where I had to go to Thailand for 6 months to do the work. What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Go visit them personally and talk to them, when you love what you do… you are what you do and clients can see it in you.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Of course! Alex Roman has definitely been one of my main references when it comes to continuing to learn and seeing how far I can go. Thanks to these people you see that you can do more and thus achieve your goals.
