Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Victor Collins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Victor thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? The world needs to hear more realistic, actionable stories about this critical part of the business building journey. Tell us your scaling up story – bring us along so we can understand what it was like making the decisions you had, implementing the strategies/tactics etc.
Scaling up has been bitter sweet. Often times, when you start a business you are also working in your business so it is not until you grow that you begin to think about the future. For me, scaling my business began with hitting road blocks with serving clients and acknowledging that in growth you may begin to compromise client experience if you do not trust other people in your business. As someone who has always handled most things in my business it has been hard bringing in others to help. It’s been hard because you get use to doing everything on your own. Considerably, having this understanding helped me begin to think more like a business owner and a CEO which means stepping outside of doing the work and having others work with you. This also meant creating a training environment for people. This is when I got serious about studying my industry and how important it is to create a solid infrastructure that included both people and processes. I also got serious about understanding my finances because this is very important for when you think about scaling up. Once I learned that I wanted to have a bigger business, and learned that I needed more leverage, I got a grip on my finances and began training people. The fruits of this decision have resulted in creating better lives for clients and for people in the form of jobs. Who knows where we are going next!
Victor, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Vic Collins and I am licensed real estate professional across several states. I’ve been in the industry for over 10 years and I help people understand how they can use real estate to create generational and present day wealth. I also coach real estate professionals in growing their businesses. I manage a real estate office in Peachtree Corners, Georgia and I also own property across the US where I am a landlord. The thing that makes me difference in this space is that my focus is helping to educate all people across all backgrounds on the power of real estate. I study the markets, I study the industry and spend a lot of time creating experiences that reflect such. I am most proud to be licensed to practice real estate in multiple states and internationally. It’s so important that people understand that there are tons of emerging markets outside of the US. How do we build communities? How do we invest more into people that also create wealth opportunities. I want my clients and followers to know that I believe when we empower communities through the things we love and mine is real estate we end up positively changing people’s lives.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I think it’s important to be authentic and organic on social media. I’ve built my following by giving people a glimpse into my life that is real. People get to see me in lifestyle and business and I love to connect with people from all backgrounds. The advice I have for people on social media is to remember you never truly know who is following and watching you and this is not necessarily measured by those who are “following” us. People are always watching!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Well, I got into real estate after being fired from a job and never in a million years did imagine that working in a commission based industry would be great for me. The irony in this is I’ve always loved real estate but on the other side of that fear was all of the unknown. When I started it was a struggle going from steady pay to commission pay and in the middle of this spending a little bit to build my business. I charged up a few credit cards, I borrowed against my 401K – and things got really uncomfortable. And surely, as I begin to focus less on the finances and more on what I loved my business grew and unimaginable life began to unfold.
