We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Victor Chong. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Victor below.
Hi Victor, thanks for joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
I’ve spent about seven years in this business, and here’s the truth: it’s a rollercoaster. During COVID and the union strikes, people couldn’t get enough of movies and TV. It’s one of the biggest sources of entertainment, but 99% of fans never see what actually happens on set. If you’re not part of the crew or connected with the director/producers, you’re not getting in. In the summer of 2024, I brought my mentor on the set of Captain America inside Trilith Studios. After catching a glimpse of the behind the scenes, he mentioned the film tour idea to me and I ran with it.
That’s why I built ReelPeek. We give true film lovers VIP access. They get to sit in the video village next to the director, chat with actors and stunt performers, and watch a movie come to life in real time. You see the sweat, focus, hustle and everything that usually happens offstage. And while you’re getting that insider experience, you’re also shining a light on every hard-working person who makes a production happen.

Victor, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a Hollywood stuntman, actor, and entrepreneur who’s spent the past seven years building a career both in front of and behind the camera. I sort of stumbled into the industry by accident. I studied neuroscience at Emory University and while I was applying to Medical School, I met a close friend who quit his engineering job to pursue stunts. After his career began to take off, he convinced me to do it with him.
Growing up, I trained in Tae Kwon Do, calisthenics, and gymnastics. I also watched like every action movie out there. Once I made more connections in the industry, I picked up fight choreography skills, trained with established stunt performers, and eventually began booking work on some pretty big shows. To me, working in the industry as a stunt performer has been a blessing and a curse. Working hard for your next gig is like constantly chasing a high. You want to keep getting those dopamine hits and it’s very rewarding. On the flip side, you can have very dry seasons mixed with the volatility of the industry. Over those years, I felt the excitement of racing toward a camera rig, the camaraderie of the stunt team, and the devotion of every department all collaborating to create a single moment on screen. I realized everyone sees the final product but 99% of fans never get to see the real process.
In summer of 2024, I founded ReelPeek to bridge that gap. ReelPeek is not a generic studio tour. Instead, we position customers as VIP guests on active, working film sets. Our core offer is straightforward: we negotiate with independent production companies to allow a small group of high-value clients onto set, usually into the video village, where directors, producers, and department heads are actively making decisions. These guests get to sit in director’s chairs, ask questions, and even mingle with actors, stunt performers, and technicians between takes. We coordinate the logistics with the production companies: safety protocols, NDAs, scheduling, and ensuring that production can stay focused. In exchange, productions get a part of the revenue stream that goes back into covering shoot costs.
I’m proud of the work I’ve accomplished so far and the people who have helped me along the way. ReelPeek just finished its first feature film tour and have two more expected this fall. We want our followers to know we deliver unfiltered access. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be in the middle of a film shoot, ReelPeek is your gateway. We’re also here to support creatives. Supporting ReelPeek means you’re investing in indie productions, helping them cover costs so they can tell bolder stories. When you tour with us, you’re not just a spectator, you’re a patron of the craft.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
One of my biggest sources of motivation and philosophy throughout my entrepreneurial journey has been Alex Hormozi. He is a well known entrepreneur who has scaled multiple businesses and is documenting everything for other entrepreneurs to learn from. His stoic philosophy makes sense to me and helps me stay focused without feeling discouraged. There have been times where I’ve already wanted to quit, but knowing that entrepreneurs deal with rejection and unforeseen challenges as part of the journey helps me know that I’m not alone in this process. This is what hard feels like and nothing worth having is easy.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
Fortunately, starting ReelPeek didn’t require much initial capital. I bootstrapped from my personal funds and residuals from previous films I worked on as a performer. Most of the work has been networking, managing social media, and updating the website.
