We were lucky to catch up with Victor Castillo & Bayron Martínez recently and have shared our conversation below.

Victor & Bayron, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?

Bayron and Victor:

A very important thing about being a landlord is that you own your own time. We have never really put ourselves back in the position of wanting to have a regular job, since we had one before.

Everything has its positive and negative side, owning a business gives you many tools to be able to achieve more activities, but at the same time, the responsibility of being in front of many more responsibilities, sometimes there is the thought of if it would be maybe better, with the knowledge you already have, to go to something more basic and “safe”: But the fact of having a business or a company, is to go through all the obstacles that arise.

Bayron Martinez, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

FORMA Arquitectura Integral is an architecture office where we take care of construction projects, interior design, remodeling, additions and architectural projects. We are specialized in the integral solution of spaces looking for harmony, functionality, sense of pertinence and the correct investment of the client’s patrimony.

We are proud of the team we have formed that has been a key piece in our growth as well as the contributions we have made in the architecture of our region.

We are different in that each project has its own essence and sense of belonging, looking for the client to identify with it and be part of the creative process

We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.

We met in college. However, we were never very close, but we were in the same group. There was never any talk of starting an architectural business; when we left school, we each went our own way. Eventually a situation arose during graduation. We were among the last to choose a partner and we said, why not?, and we tried it together. During the process we realized that we had the same hunger, the same desire and the same ideas. It happened that during the degree course we both had individual projects and we both had the same ideas, and during a talk, the idea of joining ideas and joining forces came up. And so Forma was born.

Any advice for managing a team?

Always have feedback talks with the team, mark our mistakes to know what our virtues are. We trust the people we believed would be a good element. Always with the humility of knowing that we do not have the absolute truth, but we do look for ways to solve problems that we may encounter along the way.
