We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Victor Aguilera a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Victor, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for my business when I first arrived in San Francisco and was able to pursue it during the pandemic, it has been a slow big growth but we’re very comfortable with our pace and rewards.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve been a chef for a little over 15 years now, When the pandemic first hit it gave me enough time to create a plan of survival I started cooking from home and delivering food on my bicycle all around San Francisco while everything else was closed, which gave us a lot of exposure although we weren’t ready for the volume we first received we handled it pretty well. I adapted as everything started to re open and grew my business to a full catering service our goal is too have a food truck by the beginning of next year, and do pop-ups all around, it’s my goal to provide fresh traditional Venezuelan food like arepas and introduce people to a food that is starting to get recognized everywhere.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
If you know me, you know I don’t stop, work for me hasn’t stopped this the beginning of this journey, a Pandemic opened the doors for me, and with no financial background, no inherence, no connections, no backups just blood, sweat and tears I kept pushing for this dream of mine, won Chopped on the food network along the way, made many Television appearances about my business and I do not see my self stopping, each day I learn more and i cant wait to be driving around in my food truck serving people all over the Bay and eventually the whole country.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of clients for me has been Word of mouth, if it wasn’t for the people that have come to support us we wouldn’t have made it to where we are and for that, I am truly thankful, and we try to keep our social media updated with our next moves.
