We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vicky Casis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Vicky, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is my debut album CASIS WORLD and creating an immersive album listening event for it. My album was a sonic representation of all the emotions myself and others felt during the pandemic. It was so rewarding to see people connect with the music and really connect with the ups and downs during that time. Creating an immersive album listening event with my fellow creative colleagues was amazing. There was a lot of work that went into putting it together but it came out phenomenal. Getting awarded a grant from New Music USA to put on the event was greatly appreciated. Seeing people appreciate the event and the music was very special for me.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Im a Music Producer/DJ & the Co Creator of QSTV. I started playing drums at 5 years old then got into music production at 16. I started DJing about 4 years ago. I have produced for a variety of independent artists and have two projects of my own out everywhere (Baby Gurl & CASIS WORLD). I have DJ for fashion shows, events, parades , and on Broadway. QSTV (Quality Sounds TV) is a brand my brother and I started during the pandemic that has took off from being a YouTube music variety show to being music curated events and more. I’m proud of being part of creating a music community that supports on another and spreads great music and positivity everywhere. The next thing for QSTV is to go global and include creatives from everywhere in what we do.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Society can start shining a spotlight on underground artists or artists that don’t get enough recognition. This creative ecosystem is big enough for everyone to shine. I also think big corporations and brands should be open to financially backing creative led companies like QSTV that want to innovate and create support for other creatives.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I think NFTs are great for creatives and the market is a place where creatives can really be appreciated and compensated well for the work they put in to get out to the world. The tough part is being seen, I think there’s so many great things in the NFT world but you really have to immerse your self in the NFT community to be seen.
