We recently connected with Vic Rosario and have shared our conversation below.
Vic, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Yes.. At first I knew what I wanted to do but didn’t know how to get there. In the beginning it was a struggle but with time and hard work I’ve learned anything is possible if you believed in yourself and your own vision. Success is whatever you make it out to be and you have to constantly put in the work to achieve/make things happen. Nothing is over night and you always have to think what is your long term game plan. When your young, your mindset is totally different. As I’ve gotten older things have become easier from the experiences I’ve gained throughout the years but I wish I knew what I know now back then.. lol

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As a kid I’ve always wanted to be in the music industry. I originally started playing music as a creative outlet for myself. That then turned into taking things more seriously once I started taking music lessons and my teachers would encourage me to pursue things more serious. I remember, I would sit in my room and practice for hours. I understood at a very young age that my own discipline would help me achieve a certain amount of success. That discipline helped me achieve my undergraduate and graduate degrees in music. I’ve always felt if I was going to play music, I better learn the musical theory behind whatever I’m playing or writing which till this day I’m constantly working on my craft. Never stop learning and never be afraid to try new things. I’ve learned throughout the years, the more things you can do yourself the better you will become in whatever you choose to do. I’m a strong believer on this: A person’s work ethic will set you apart from others and always take pride in the work you do. You can have all the talent in the world but without a strong work ethic and belief in yourself talent will only take you so far.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me the most rewarding aspect is being able to inspire/share knowledge with those trying to achieve the same thing. I constantly have individuals reaching out to me for advice which I enjoy sharing my experiences/knowledge with them. I even started my own production company entitled V3 Music Productions based on this. Throughout the years, I’ve been up and down this musical latter. I’ve experienced many great things and not so great things within the music industry but somehow I kept moving forward within my career. Many artists/musicians have used my experiences/knowledge to their advantage helping them gain success. It’s always nice to see that. I may not know all the answers to solve every problem but I will make every effort or suggestions in order to help resolve the issue. 😊

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Yes.. I wished we had the internet and all the social media outlets we have today back then. I just dated myself but with today’s technology I feel it’s easier for creative people to get out there. Yes, you still have to put in the work but it’s easier to get whatever product out to the masses. Everything now is at the click of a button which can be good and bad for us musicians.
