We recently connected with Vic Parizzotto and have shared our conversation below.
Vic, appreciate you joining us today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
I’m fascinated about web 3 and how automation is helping brands to thrive in creative businesses, but also making creatives adapt their skills to deliver new forms of communication and customization at scale — I’m speaking of platforms like mid journey, chat GPT, “metaverses”, digital tokens etc
Vic, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Olá, prazer! I’m Vic Parizzotto — a brazilian art director and illustrator born in Sao Paulo and based in New York City. I’ve worked at agencies, boutique studios and brands like Starbucks, PlayStation, Durex and more, both in South and North America. I’ve attended fun creative events and won a few awards to make my mom proud.
But before becoming a creative, I wasn’t sure about what career path to follow, I just knew it would be something fun and dynamic because I liked random things and drawing my own universe. Most people in my family work in health. After finishing high school, I had the opportunity to study animation and design in New Zealand where I also perfected my second language, English, and realized that animation wasn’t for me (it felt too mathematical. Math is my enemy). However, design classes felt just right.
As an art director, I’m responsible for solving brand’s problems by finding creative solutions aligned with cultural insights. These solutions come in different forms and strategies, they can be a product, a social media campaign, a brand collaboration, an event, a guerilla activation, a chat GPT commercial, a game, a field trip to Mars etc. It could be literally anything, as long as it connects conceptually to the brand, bringing positive results to them (awareness, sales, engagement, etc).
I’m proud of pursuing my dream in advertising (also very lucky considering all the support and opportunities I met along the way). We all perceive success in different manners…to me, it’s truly about the journey and the person I chose to be every day.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
Non Fungible Tokens changed the way we value digital creations and I know we might be saturated about hearing these 3 words but I don’t think there’s a way back now. They are part of a new internet Era and the sooner we (creatives, entrepreneurs, brands, etc) learn and adapt to them, the more ideas we’ll have to make them more inclusive — I think this is the challenging part, right? Making sure that these technologies are simple and safe and that they reach everyone. By the way, my team and I have worked on a NFT project that helped men to find early signs of testicular cancer. The project done for Movember is called “Non Fungible Testicles”, and we love how this idea combines utility to health with NFTs in the mechanics!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Collaboration, Self growth and seeing our designs going live!
