We recently connected with Vic Carter and have shared our conversation below.
Vic, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
I used to practically beg my friends, family and even love interests to support me until I really starting loving myself more. Now, I don’t care, most support comes from strangers who genuinely like what you do, and not just because it’s YOU.
I knew to stop when I saw people I love support everything and everyone else PUBLICLY. Then tell my privately that they “see me”.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I own Vicuals Multimedia. I specialize in video content of all kinds mainly original shows. Also providing photography & graphic design services to business, models, artists etc.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I knew the power of PEOPLE! I’ve been an introvert my whole life and developed a little social anxiety since the pandemic. But, once I just started talking to people and marketing myself face to face, showing my personality….instead of on the internet, a lot more doors opened for me and my business.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built a following by doing consistent and quality work! Also, being open and including everyone who saw my value. Showing that I’m a solid person within my business practices and personal relationships. In turn, the followers do the marketing for me.
