We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vibehouse EST a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Vibehouse, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The group project that stands out the most is our debut music video and single release, “What A Day”. Following two years of preparation for the highly anticipated release, the drop was truly developed from the ground up. Everything from the song’s production and mastering to the photo cover and full video was created in-house. It was also the first track we released with a marketing strategy. Massing over 129K views and counting, “What A Day” is an impactful song that highlights the everyday struggles along with the blessings. Although our original group of seven members is now down to four, “What A Day” really helped to establish our fanbase, and it is a project we are all proud to be a part of.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We go by the name of Vibehouse EST (East Side tribe), operating under our parent label, Vibehouse ATL LLC. Our versatile group features it all – singers, songwriters, producers, engineers, photographers, and videographers. We are a unique bunch, and what started off as childhood friendship and kinship grew to become a business partnership. Though many groups have problems venturing into solo projects, our team stands behind every group/solo release as a collective. For example, our second single, “4 Players Only” features two group members but includes all four Tribe members on the track’s official cover. We pride ourselves on bringing an innovative sound not only to the Hip-Hop/ R&B scene but also for music lovers in general. We challenged ourselves to break away from the stereotypical style of rap. Music is truly what you make it and we have created a vibe like no other. Whether it is a group song or a solo song release, we make music for every mood.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Like most artists, our creative journey began early in our adulthood. Even at the age of 21, the industry was a whole new world to us. We had the team and the talent we knew we wanted, but we were missing one very important thing: A game plan. We loved to make music but had to learn how to properly conduct business. Most people think you just sell something as a business and that’s it, but you must first understand what you’re selling, how you want to sell, and who you are selling to. Access to more capital, music mentors, venue owners, and studio equipment would have been beneficial in our journey, but God does things for mysterious reasons. He brought us together as a group. Now we have everything we need to be successful.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
There is so much joy in being able to create something and see it come to life in the real world. Music is the ultimate form of self-expression – our therapy. The ups and downs of the creative process taught us how to be more patient and how to work together as a team to share our vision. We believe in our group as much as we do in one another. Despite these times of disconnect, we are very fortunate to have the ability to relate with fans and the people around us. The experience reminds us that we are all more alike than we are different.
