We were lucky to catch up with VFC’s Travels recently and have shared our conversation below.
VFC’s, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Years ago my grandmother had suggested I keep a diary, especially when my career took me to many beautiful places around the globe. My grandmother was an immigrant who had lived in many countries and spoke many languages before arriving to the USA. I never started my diary, but when my children started a YouTube channel, I thought, “Here’s my chance to start that diary my grandmother always said I should.” So VFC’s Travels was born.
Along the way of the VFC’s Travels journey I would receive positive feedback from viewers who appreciated the inspiration to get out there and see the world. While in the Benagil Beach Cave in the Algarve, Portugal, a man came up to me and thanked me for posting my video of that cave the year prior, as he explained the cave was located in his country and he had never known about it and was inspired to come see it thanks to VFC’s Travels.
Stories like that keep my going. It’s a beautiful world out there, with so many beautiful places, people and cultures, and we should all make it a point to get to better know our beautiful world and its people.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
VFC’s Travels is a travel best YouTube channel with the purpose of getting out there and exploring the world and its fantastic places, people and cultures! It’s easy to get into the day to day rut of life, but no matter where you are, adventure awaits! I like to highlight people, places, food, culture and all the amazing things that make our world such a beautiful place! Instagram became a big part of VFC’s Travels where I post most of the day to day adventures before compiling them into movies for YouTube. Instagram account: @vfcs_travels
As I already described in a previous question, feedback from the viewers has been amazing, and I’m humbled to have provided inspiration for those who otherwise might not have to get out there and see things they may not have seen and experience things they may not have experienced. We only live one short life, we must make the most of it!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of VFC’s Travels is feedback from the viewers. Just one positive comment from a viewer makes it all worth it. The goal is to create a platform of positive vibes where we can appreciate our beautiful world and its cultures, and respect the fact that diversity is one of the driving factors that makes our world so great.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I think the key to being successful on social media is to just be yourself. It’s tough to get ahead in social media with everyone wanting a piece of the pie and with many options to buy publicity and influence, but the most successful brands with their audience are those who are just themselves and not try to fake their way to influence or fame. Those with the most loyal followings build that following by just being themselves and having the patience to wait out the growth.
