Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Veronique Pierre. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Veronique thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Roses without Thorns, Inc is a national nonprofit organization with a single mission: To empower girls to overcome mental distress by blossoming in self-esteem, flourishing in self-confidence, and blooming in self-love. In 2019, Veronique Pierre, Founder, and CEO established Roses without Thorns, Inc. after her experiences with depression. Pierre’s first experienced the loss of her father at a very young age, followed by her sister’s murder when she was eight months pregnant and a few years later – the final straw, was the loss of her mother, which was unexpected.
One after another, these events led her to suppress her grief to try to survive in a relationship where she pretended to be happy. That relationship came to an end when she could no longer pretend after becoming pregnant with her last child. As she navigated through the chaos of her life and the emotional impact the events had on her she realized it was time to reinvent herself and that started with self-love. Putting her emotional well-being first, she had to end a toxic relationship with the love of her life. Despite that, Pierre’s struggle with these events and experiences has brought her to where she is today. Still a work in progress, she has reinvented herself and in a very healing way, has created a nonprofit organization to assist the community. The organization provides mental health awareness programs, information and resources, and events to increase self-care and self-love to the people across the globe that need it. Pierre is a huge mental health advocate where she published a book, “The Strongest Woman in the World is You” and a t-shirt line “Jesus+Therapy” to help raise awareness as much as possible.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m a proud founder of Roses without Thorns, Inc., a nonprofit organization to raises personal development/mental health awareness and a certified Mental Health Advocate. Besides my nonprofit organization, I raise personal development through my t-shirt line called “Jesus+Therapy” and my book called “The Strongest Woman in World is You.” As a believer, I launched the tshirt line “Jesus+Therapy because so many of us need more than just Jesus alone. I realized more and more to experience a full deliverance and increase our faith, we need to build a relationship with the creator Jesus Christ and invest in therapy. The beauty of inner peace begins when we build a relationship with Christ and add therapy. My book was my first intentionally published piece and it’s a 21-day guide that helps cope with depression and anxiety. It’s okay to not be okay, just don’t live there. This book is an excellent tool to determine what strategies work best for your healing journey.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There have been so many times and challenges where I doubted myself and out of fear, I just wanted to give up, especially when things do not go as planned. Then I realized the magic ingredients are having the right mindset, the right goal, and self-motivation. Perseverance is key! As a black female mompreneur, launching my business in 2019 right before the pandemic has been a challenge and still is. Learning, adapting, and evolving is imperative in this business or any other business nowadays. Yet I turned my true passion into helping others to be my self-motivator. It has always been a priority for me to help others who deal with mental illness and distress through words of encouragement, support, and mentorship. Giving back is one of the most rewarding experiences. It helps you develop your leadership skills because you become more socially responsible, a team player, and have the ability to impact others. And because of resilience, I’m still thriving, winning awards such as this and making a huge impact locally and globally.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
As a mental health advocate, my passion was to help others but in the same process, I was helping myself as well. I continue to strive to be the best person I can be, learn, relearn, and unlearn in order to reach my full potential. Self-improvement is an ongoing process but each day working with others to achieve their personal and professional goals inspires me to continue to do the same. Wherever my professional journey leads me, it is to teach others to fight for their happiness and full deliverance to enhance their quality of life.
