Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Veronika Zamecnikova. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Veronika, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
Being a business owner is a constant balancing act between freedom and responsibility, and while there are moments of doubt, I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything else.
There are moments of immense happiness and satisfaction, but there are also times when I contemplate what it would be like to have a regular job. The idea of a 9-to-5 job with less responsibility seemed appealing, especially when I was going through a personal situation that demanded my attention. At that moment, I yearned for the simplicity of a regular job with a steady paycheck. I thought about how it would be easier to leave work at the office, not worry about business’s unpredictable ups and downs, and have a reliable income stream.
But as I continued to reflect, I realized the desire for a traditional job was just a fleeting thought born from stress and exhaustion. I reminded myself of the reasons I chose entrepreneurship in the first place. The package included the freedom to make my own decisions, the thrill of creating something from scratch, and the sense of accomplishment when things did go well.
I also acknowledged that no job, no matter how stable, is completely devoid of stress or challenges. Every path has its own set of difficulties, and in many ways, being a business owner allowed me to grow and develop skills I wouldn’t have acquired in a traditional job.
Ultimately, I concluded that while being a business owner is undeniably stressful and demanding, it also offers a unique sense of freedom and the potential for great rewards. There are moments when the thought of a regular job seems tempting, but they are fleeting. I chose this path for a reason, and I reminded myself that during tough times, it’s essential to stay positive, learn from challenges, and keep pushing forward.
Owning a business is a rollercoaster ride filled with highs and lows, but it’s my ride, and I’m determined to make the most of it.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I started my business with zero capital. This initial investment was not financial but an investment of my time and expertise. I dedicated my free time to crafting a professional online presence, ensuring it reflected the quality of services I could offer. With limited resources but a lot of knowledge, I decided to leverage my skills to create a website showcasing work I had done before as a freelancer.
To attract my first clients, I turned to free online marketing tools and websites. I utilized free advertising platforms and networking opportunities, all driven by my dedication to getting my business off the ground.
My journey was not about having capital in the traditional sense; it was about investing the most precious resource I had – my time and skills. Through hard work, persistence, and a commitment to providing value, I was able to turn my zero-capital startup into a thriving business.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
Before starting my business, I had a full-time career. During this period, I began to harness my free time, actively seeking online side gigs and working on them during evenings and weekends. Within a couple of months, I was getting more and more clients. That was the moment when I decided to start my own business.
Managing the transition was challenging. But all the hard work and taking a risk was worth it.
