We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Veronica Vigil. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Veronica below.
Alright, Veronica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
That’s a really interesting question. Overall, I’d say I am happier as a business owner, but it’s definitely a different kind of happiness. It comes with more freedom and a deeper sense of purpose, but also a lot more responsibility and pressure.
There are moments, though, when I do think about what it would be like to have a “regular” job. The last time that thought crossed my mind was during a particularly overwhelming week. I had multiple deadlines at once, unexpected issues came up, and it felt like everything depended on me. I remember sitting late at night, still working, feeling exhausted and thinking how simple it might be to just finish a workday and fully disconnect.
In that moment, the idea of having a clear structure, a steady paycheck, and fewer decisions to make felt really appealing. I imagined what it would be like to close my laptop at 5 or 6 pm and not carry that mental load home.
But after that initial feeling passed, I realized something important. What stresses me sometimes is also what gives me the most fulfillment. Being a business owner allows me to build something that’s truly mine, make my own decisions, and grow in ways I probably wouldn’t in a more traditional role.
So yes, I do have those moments of doubt, but they’re usually temporary. They help me reflect, reset, and appreciate why I chose this path in the first place.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Of course. I’m a New York–based creative producer, journalist, and podcast host, with a career rooted in storytelling, media, and cultural connection. My work sits at the intersection of content creation, brand storytelling, and community building, with a strong focus on authenticity and emotional depth.
My path into this industry began with a background in journalism and visual arts, followed by a Master’s Degree in Cinematography. From early on, I was drawn to telling stories that capture not just what people do, but who they are. Over time, that evolved into producing documentary and commercial content, working with international platforms, and later expanding into digital media, social strategy, and podcasting.
Most recently, I’ve been focused on creating and hosting original audio content. I produced and hosted the first season of a Spanish-language podcast for Radio Asturias / Cadena SER “Crónicas de Nueva York”, where I combined personal diary-style reflections about my life in New York with interviews featuring Spanish entrepreneurs living in the city. In parallel, I created and hosted Urban Angel: NYC Diaries, a deeply personal podcast exploring life in New York through conversations with artists, creators, and cultural voices.
Alongside my editorial and creative work, I’ve worked extensively in social media and brand strategy. As Social Media Manager for Washington Square Hotel Restaurant, North Square, I led content and campaign strategies that increased engagement by 50% and strengthened audience connection and retention. I’ve also produced content and coordinated press for major cultural events such as The Village Trip Festival , helping bridge artists, brands, and audiences in meaningful ways. Earlier in my career, I’ve worked as a producer for Tout va Bien Films and as a journalist and host interviewing prominent figures across art, music, and culture.
What I offer is a combination of creative direction, content production, and strategic storytelling. I help individuals, brands, and cultural projects articulate their identity in a way that feels both elevated and real. Whether through podcasts, social media, or live events, my goal is always to create work that resonates and builds genuine connection.
One of the key problems I solve is helping clients move from having a message to having a clear, compelling voice. Many people and brands struggle to express themselves in a way that stands out without losing authenticity, I help bridge that gap.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend narrative sensitivity with strategic thinking. I approach every project with a strong editorial eye, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of audience psychology. I’m also fully bilingual in English and Spanish, which allows me to work fluidly across different markets and cultural contexts.
What I’m most proud of is the body of work I’ve built around real stories and real people, projects that not only communicate, but connect. Whether it’s through a documentary, podcast episode, a campaign, or a live event, I aim to create something that feels honest, thoughtful, and lasting.
For potential clients, collaborators, or audiences, what I’d want them to know is that my work is deeply intentional. I care about quality, about meaning, and about creating something that truly represents the essence of the people and brands I work with. My goal is not just to produce content, but to create experiences that resonate and endure.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Of course. One of the moments that best illustrates my resilience was the decision to leave behind an established career as a documentary director in Spain, after even being nominated for a Goya Award, and start over completely on my own in New York.
From the outside, it might have looked like I was walking away from something solid and successful. And in many ways, I was. I had recognition, experience, and a clear identity within my field. But internally, I felt a strong pull toward something more, something that would challenge me, push me out of my comfort zone, and allow me to grow in ways I couldn’t if I stayed where everything was already known.
Arriving in New York was both exciting and incredibly humbling. I didn’t have a built-in network, and I had to rebuild everything from scratch, both professionally and personally. There were moments of doubt, of course. Times when I questioned whether I had made the right decision, especially when things felt uncertain or when I had to take on roles that were very different from where I had been before.
I remember a period early on when I was juggling multiple small projects, trying to establish myself again, and navigating a completely new environment. It was overwhelming at times. But instead of seeing it as a step back, I chose to see it as a rebuilding phase, a necessary part of creating something new and more aligned with who I was becoming.
What carried me through was a combination of discipline, curiosity, and belief in my vision. I stayed open, kept creating, kept connecting with people, and little by little, things started to take shape again, just in a different form.
Looking back, that decision required a level of resilience I hadn’t fully tapped into before. It taught me that starting over is not a loss of identity, but an expansion of it, and that sometimes the bravest thing you can do is to leave certainty behind in order to grow into something greater.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what has helped me build my reputation within my market is a combination of strong production skills, strategic networking, and the ability to genuinely connect with artists. I focus on attracting the attention of creators I admire and developing relationships that are based on both respect and friendship. From there, I’m able to create documentary projects, podcasts, or articles that are fully aligned with the personality and vision of the people I work with.
It’s a mutually beneficial process: I learn from some of the best, channel their energy into the work, and together we create something that’s high-quality, authentic, and impactful. The end result not only honors the individual or brand but also resonates with a broad audience. I think this combination of skill, empathy, and collaboration is what has helped me earn trust and recognition in my field.
