Veronica, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Finding those key vendors can often be make or break for a brand. Can you talk to us about how you found your key vendors?
What I knew starting out was that the relationship with our manufacturer would be a key to our success. Having worked for a manufacturer of diagnostic devices early in my career, I knew firsthand how important that relationship is and how important working with the right manufacturer can be.
Prior to Aloisia Beauty, my husband and I had partnered with Korean Manufacturers of Medical products for our previous business. Over the years, we had experience with different manufacturing companies and had built a relationship of trust with an excellent network and with a few companies. This is how we were able to secure a partnership with one of the leading skincare labs in Korea. Knowing our partner’s use of quality ingredients and commitment to responsible manufacturing practices is the main reason why we took the leap to follow our dream of launching our unique skincare brand, featuring proprietary and patented formations that offer powerful, yet gentle, skincare solutions for a wide variety of skincare types, in such a competitive marketplace.
This partnership ensures continued supply and priority in the manufacturing Q without commitment to large MOQ’s. It’s because of this partnership with the manufacturer that we have been able to avoid the supply chain problems that so many companies are currently facing.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am the co-founder of Aloisia Beauty™ a women and minority-owned brand founded and led by a diverse team of women with one shared goal – creating clean, effective skincare for every skin.
We shared every woman’s struggle to find solutions that addressed our individual skin goals on our journey to age gracefully, so we created a line designed to yield real results for a range of skin types. Our high-performance formulas combine ancient Korean beauty principles with modern science innovations and clean ingredients, helping you achieve healthy, glowing skin. We recently launched our ANTI-AGING & BRIGHTENING Collection that includes our BALANCE Moisturizing Toner, RENEW Concentrated Serum, LIGHT HYDRATION Emulsion, REVITALIZE Eye Cream, and ULTRA-RICH Moisture Cream. Each product is powered by our ANTI-AGING & BRIGHTENING Complex which contains enriching plant extracts, nourishing fermentation filtrates, and ultra-hydrating ingredients to reverse signs of aging and regain radiance.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I love my partners! Having the right founding team is another key for success. I met my partner GG Benitez when our kids started pre-school, they are both now headed to college. GG was the first one to believe in us. Literally! We were traveling in Paris with friends, both of us not being able to fully enjoy this trip because of work commitments, she dealing with a challenging client, me dealing with a boss that I worked for briefly who would contact me non-stop on vacation. She and I had been talking about skincare products for years; our shared passion for the right ingredients, for healthy glowing skin, and for the practice of self care; and, at one moment when were both miserable in the most beautiful place, she turned to me and said ,”Let’s do it! Let’s start our own company!” We might as well work this hard for something that’s our own, bringing joy to other women while fulfilling our passions. GG then introduced me to Nicole Levine and Chrissy Kling, sisters who were equally as dynamic and creative as GG and who also shared the same passion for skincare as we did. We clicked immediately. Together with our partners in Korea, this team has been the perfect foundation for our business, we all work hard, have fun together and are able to have hard conversations with each other that are needed when you start a business.
Have you ever had to pivot?
We launched Aloisia Beauty at the end of 2019 and quickly secured a test launch with a National Retailer, however our test launch was supposed to be in March 2020 and obviously never happened because everything came to a halt with the 2020 pandemic. At the time it felt like the rug was being pulled out from under us, but it actually ended up being the best thing for our business. It allowed us to take a step back, refocus our goals for our product line direction and we shifted gears to focus on building our DTC presence. Now that we have a full product line and are more established, we are pursuing retail more aggressively and have restarted conversations with National retailers again, but in a much better position. We understand our customers better and have built up an engaged and loyal community and a reputation for quality.
