We were lucky to catch up with Veronica McCoy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Veronica, thanks for joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
Perfect Finish Lip Wear is a small-batch brand created in August of 2021.
The concept behind the brand was to create neutral/nude lipstick and lip gloss colors that would appeal to the everyday man or woman. I wanted to create a product that could be worn for any occasion, date night, running errands, etc. was cost-effective, and would be made with ingredients to promote healthy lips, and look stunning at the same time.
After extensive research, I realized there is a market for HANDMADE cosmetics.
I believed Perfect Finish could succeed because of the positive feedback received from customers. On the feel. texture, ingredients, rich color payoff, and much more.

My name is Veronica McCoy from Baltimore, Maryland. I am the creator behind Perfect Finish Lip Wear, I create handmade lipstick and lip gloss.
As a military spouse, I wanted to create a lip product that military women could wear while in uniform, which is how I started making nude lipgloss colors. Soon after I transitioned into creating a variety of lipstick colors.
I love assisting customers by creating short tutorials, Instagram Reels, and providing tips and tricks, on applying lip wear, how to care for your lips, pairing a gloss or lipstick color to an outfit even achieving lip wear combos. It’s important to show my customers, followers, and those who don’t know me the importance of being comfortable in your skin with or without makeup.
What sets us apart from others would be all our products are handmade and mixed as ordered. Although this takes time, it is my goal to make sure each customer is happy with their purchase.
What I am most proud of is how many customers I have reached. Women from Maryland to Mississippi, Florida, and several other states. It’s rewarding to know my products are being enjoyed and worn, by so many.
What I would like potential customers and or followers to know is our lip wear is cruelty-free and made with natural ingredients. The “Perfect Finish” to compliment your everyday style.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media was relativity simple since my niche is lip wear. Using the suggestions provided my IG was one source used to find several followers. Next, I invited followers from my personal page to my brand page and last word of mouth.
Building social media is about connecting with my target audience and fostering loyalty to my brand. I have learned that my niche plays an important role in increasing engagement, which therefore can increase my brand’s presence overall within the industry.
Some advice I could give would be to figure out and focus on what your niche will be. Having a niche can assist in increased engagement.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients has been social media.
We offer free samples of our lip wear on our website. This offer has worked extremely well because we understand when a potential customer has an interest in our products they may be unsure of a color, or texture, or may not be ready to commit to purchasing a full bottle. The sampling campaign has allowed us to attract new and repeat customers. Especially when a follower posts their review on social media.
