We were lucky to catch up with Veronica Gomez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Veronica, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned while working at a prior job?
One of the biggest lessons I learned came from my time as a cardiac nurse—health isn’t just about treatment, it’s about prevention.
I saw firsthand how diet and lifestyle choices impact long-term health. Many patients wished they had made healthier choices earlier. That stuck with me.
When I started Pure Sprout Microgreens, it wasn’t just about growing greens—it was about making nutrition easy, fresh, and accessible. Microgreens are tiny but packed with nutrients, and they’re a simple way to add wellness to everyday meals.
The lesson? Small daily choices add up. Whether in health, business, or life, what you do today matters for tomorrow.
That’s the mindset I bring to my farm and to my customers—helping them make small, powerful changes that support long-term wellness.
Veronica, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Veronica Gomez, founder of Pure Sprout Microgreens, a local farm in Lilburn, GA, focused on growing fresh, nutrient-packed microgreens for cafés, markets, restaurants, and health-conscious individuals.
My journey started in healthcare—I worked as a cardiac nurse for nearly a decade. Seeing the impact of diet on long-term health made me rethink nutrition, food choices, and accessibility. I wanted to be part of the solution, not just the treatment. That’s what led me to microgreens—tiny, vibrant greens with up to 40x the nutrients of their mature counterparts.

What I’m Most Proud Of
Starting from just a few trays of greens, I’ve built a business that supports health, local businesses, and sustainable food choices. Seeing customers—especially busy parents and wellness-focused individuals—get excited about adding microgreens to their meals makes it all worth it.
At the end of the day, I believe food should fuel us, not weigh us down. That’s why I do what I do.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
My biggest pivot was moving from cardiac nursing to farming.
For years, I worked in healthcare, helping people recover from preventable health issues. I saw the same patterns over and over—poor nutrition, stress, and lifestyle choices leading to long-term problems. It made me rethink my role.
Then, during COVID-19, everything shifted. The long hours, the stress, and the time away from my family made me question what I really wanted. I wanted to be proactive about health, not just reactive.
That’s when I discovered microgreens—tiny but nutrient-dense greens that can make a huge difference in a person’s diet with very little effort. I started growing them as a personal project, and soon, I realized there was a demand for fresh, local, high-quality greens in my community.
Pivoting to Pure Sprout Microgreens wasn’t just a career change—it was a shift in purpose. Now, I help people make small, powerful changes to their health through fresh food. It’s been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
A few key books and thinkers have really shaped how I approach business and life:
📖 “Atomic Habits” by James Clear – Reinforced the power of small, consistent actions. Growth—whether in business, health, or mindset—is about showing up daily, not waiting for a big breakthrough.
📖 “You Are a Badass” by Jen Sincero – A reminder that confidence and action go hand in hand. Building a business means believing in yourself, even when the path isn’t always clear.
📖 “The E-Myth” by Michael Gerber – Shifted my thinking from just working in my business to working on it. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, but real success comes from systems, delegation, and long-term vision.
👩💼 Angela Duckworth (Author of “Grit”) – Her work on perseverance and passion really resonates with me. Success isn’t about talent—it’s about sticking with it, even when it gets tough.
🌍 Tulsi Gabbard – I admire her strength, resilience, and ability to stand firm in her beliefs. As a business owner, it’s a reminder that integrity and authenticity matter—people connect with businesses that stay true to their mission.
The biggest lesson? Discipline + belief + action = results. That’s the mindset that drives me in business, health, and life.
