Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Veronica Flores. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Veronica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
More than happy, being creative is part of my nature. I tried to express it in all my paintings but also in my daily life; around the house .
Starting with my story, I did have a regular job, I am an orthodontist in my country, Argentina. I worked and studied for many years and due to my husband’s work, we moved to the United States and currently live in Houston
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
When we moved, I had to start adapting to the new life, being full time mom to my children who at that time were kids. Time moved on; I began to have more time for myself and during the pandemic I began to paint, a hidden passion that I did not develop before due to lack of time. I attended many courses and I am still taking others. I really feel passionate about what I do. Love doing watercolor paintings, but I also paint with oil and acrylic.
After some time, I started selling my paintings and prints online shop, in my Etsy store; and in person on fairs for entrepreneurs. Also, I started teaching classes and having workshop sessions. At the moment, I’m working on different projects that will allow me to growth .
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Thanks to painting and other activities related like furniture restoration, ceramics, goldsmithing, I found an activity, an occupation, that fills my days and my life and I helped to adapt better to our new life far from my country. I found a purpose, something of mine, beyond my family, which of course means everything.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
There are many positive aspects, it is being immersed in a task where you lose track of time, your mind flies, It is peaceful, it is healing. It is a job but it does not feel like such.
