We recently connected with Vero Garcia and have shared our conversation below.
Vero, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I’m still learning; I think as everything in life, at least in mine, every new skill is a learning process, and sometimes learning it is trial and error until you get an idea of how to do it right. So far my learning process has been a great ride, with normal ups and downs, so time wise I can’t complain.
I’m a graphic designer so having those skills as a background have been a great help.
One of my biggest obstacles so far is the language barrier, I’m fluent in English and Spanish, but my native language is Spanish, and there are still some terms I’m learning.
Every day is an opportunity to learn something new.
Vero, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a bookstagrammer, and to be completely honest it was by accident. I was recovering from a major surgery and while figuring out what to read I discovered the Bookstagram Community, I thought how hard can it be, so I started it.
I never imagined that four years later I’ll keep doing this.
I have met awesome bookstagrammers from all over the world, fantastic authors and Publishers. I get to read new books, discover new genres and share my thoughts in my little corner with the world.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started this account from zero, not knowing what I was doing. I’m still building it, and learning from it every day.
It’s not easy, but as long as you stay true to yourself, build a community of friends, and learn from others you can’t go wrong.
And the most important advice I can give is to always be kind to others.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I love to create and discover new things, so for me to be able to try new techniques, is always rewarding. Social media is constantly changing and evolving so we need to evolve and learn new things almost every day.
