We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Vera Taku. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Vera below.
Vera , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
Happier is an understatement, I have the best job in the world (to me that is). I think doing what you love is key, I get to get up every day to have fun. It doesn’t feel like work when it’s a passion, I get to make people happy, bring dreams to reality and create an everlasting memory with people, which I feel is my greater calling. I have a phrase I go by “Billionaires don’t breathe a different air” they didn’t get there by working a regular job. So why can’t we all? The last time I thought about going back to working for someone else building their company and making them billionaires was NEVER. Since I started my own company there was no turning back despite all the challenges on the way, I was focused on that phrase. Just imagine not waking up when you want, taking a break only when someone else tells you to, or running to clock in, and not being able to control your time? It’s a no brainer.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am Vera Etta Taku, the owner and creative director of V’etta Creations, I am an Event Planner, Design and Decor professional. I got into the Entertainment industry over 5 years ago by taking a hobby and turning it into a business. We provide Event planning, Event decor and Event rentals. We bring our clients joy and happiness, we create dreams into reality. What set’s us apart is the fact that we provide to our clients what they don’t know they need. I am most proud of our inventory, how much we’ve achieved in the life of our business. I would love for our “Creations “ as we call them, to know that with us everything is possible because we strive to bring happiness to all our clients, we go above and beyond to make the unthinkable happen.
Let’s talk M&A – we’d love to hear your about your experience with buying businesses
Yes, I’ve bought out a business. Two years ago I bought out another event company during the start of the pandemic, when others were going down God was lifting me up, I bought out a half a million dollar company for nothing compared to it’s worth and that was the beginning of the rental part of our company. I was the lucky bider who out bid all others at the auction and I was told I would be gaining the entire business. I was amazed, it was like God just placed it in my lap and said here is the next step for your business. The process was very easy for me literally cash and Cary.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Initial capital???? I didn’t have one, I started my business with 500 dollars and faith, coupled with investments from my mother, s/o to her she’s been my biggest supporter financially and I wouldn’t be where I am now without her.
