We were lucky to catch up with Vera Myers recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Vera, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
My husband and I are currently producing our own show called “Post and Ghost” about a team of assassins that go viral making “killer” content. The show is a dark comedy action thriller and we write, shoot, act and direct plus do all the post production ourselves each week in order to drop a fresh new episode every Sunday on our Youtube channel @postandghosttv.
Vera, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an actress and producer who started in the industry as a fashion model. I met my husband, also an actor and producer, almost 5 years ago and we have been making content together ever since. We own a production company called Orphino Bros and we do everything from headshots to feature films, concept to creation. In this industry you have to make your own way or else you are sitting around waiting to be “picked” for a project or role, which can be frustrating to say the least. I wanted to pour my creative energy into a project that I felt passionate about and that project is “Post and Ghost”
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn was that there is a set pathway to success in the film industry. No one’s journey is the same and you should never compare or compete with anyone. Miracles happen when you completely dissolve in the moment and let the momentum take over the creative process. I quickly learned that there is no rhyme or reason to any rejection, you should never take it personal and just enjoy the ride. Share your creative vision to satisfy your artistic cravings and stay in the action and out of the results. So if you feel like your stuck, and don’t know what to do – just grab a camera and film something with your friends.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Yes for instance while writing episodes for our show, my husband and I knew we wouldn’t be able to secure a location and talent during the Christmas/New Years week so we came up with a “special NYE episode” idea that actually went viral and propelled our channel gaining us over 12k subscribers in under 3 weeks. Sometimes a “pivot” can be exactly what you need so always embrace every challenge as an opportunity and not an obstacle.
