Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vera Anderson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Vera, thanks for joining us today. We believe kindness is contagious and so we’d love for you to share with us and our audience about the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how wonderful my husband is. Early on in our marriage, I suffered from a life threatening mental health condition. As even newly married he stepped in as my caretaker, making sure my meds were working, keeping track of my moods, journaling my progress as he was doing his own job and taking care of our household. He truly is a hero and I will never forget his kindness
Vera, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve always been interested in art even as a child and when I took the risk as I became an adult, to pursue art making full time, I drew from a wealth of experience from a previous job I had as an airport agent who traveled the world. I been to dozens of countries and made sure I visited some of the greatest art museums of the world. This opportunity of world travel has impacted my art with unique subject matter, uncommon technique and soft people skills that I’ve sought to give clients who call upon me for commissions or even my own artwork. I wanted to bring exotic inspiration to people.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’m a creative who suffers from a mental health disability. What I’ve learned about taking care of myself and healthy coping mechanisms has carried over into my artistic practice. For instance I had to be patient with finding the right combination of medicine and lifestyle habits that were actually character building traits and values of self discipline, perseverance, and endurance.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My grandmother was an Olympic athlete and I’ve learned from her how much hard work and dedication leads to successful outcomes.
