We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Venisha Arnold a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Venisha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made (either in terms of time or money)? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
Great speaking with you again. Well for me the best investment I made for my adult life is attending law school, graduating & practicing law. From the LSAT to passing the bar exam & getting my law license it was ALL WORTH IT. I graduated from the same law school as My Father. Practicing law has provided me a great living as an adult. My parents gave me a wonderful childhood & upbringing. Also my profession led me to starting my 2nd nonprofit THE ARNOLD Foundation/Henry’s Place in memoriam to My Father. My goal for The Arnold Foundation is to assist the next generation of lawyers. I plan to give away scholarships every semester.
Venisha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Ok. For the past year or so I was thinking about The Arnold Foundation a lot. I was thinking if My Dad was still alive he would do charitable giveaways through The Arnold Foundation & I would assist him but in late 2022 I was like “V, you can do it!” So I had to think about what would be my initiative for The Arnold Foundation because my first nonprofit Persistence is The Key focuses on education & humanitarian causes. So I decided my initiative for The Arnold Foundation would be a scholarship foundation for the next generation of lawyers.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
The Alchemist. What this book reaffirms for me is it’s okay to make mistakes and stumble along the way, as long as you get up and keep trying. If you get up each time you fall you will succeed. To quote my first nonprofit “NEVER SETTLE! Persistence is The Key!”
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
There are so MANY. Fitness I go to the gym daily. I had a time in my life where I jogged 12 miles every other day and for years I jogged 6 miles everyday. For me fitness is tenacity, therapeutic & can help you get through life. The physical benefits don’t hurt either! Lol.
