We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Venessa and Nicole a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Venessa and Nicole , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
When we initially started our small business we did it as a response to the charcuterie that’s served at restaurants as an appetizer. Small boards with big price points. When we think of going out and sharing a meal with friends, we think of a glass of wine or a cocktail and a small bite to socialize. However, many boards are so small that it might not make it around the table for everyone to enjoy.
We created our brand with the idea of variety and abundance, with the hope that anyone can find something on our board that they enjoy and will keep them coming back for seconds. Lush varieties of fruits and veggies along with artisanal cheeses and premium meats. The compounding flavors of sweet jams and savory pickles is a delicious explosion when paired together over great company. We love bringing people to the table with a bright array of flavors and even more so we love when they stay and create memories with one another sharing love and laughs over cheese.
Venessa and Nicole , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We originally started only offering our variety of craft boxes for enjoyment and that has quickly spilled over to offering larger wood boards for a beautiful aesthetic when having larger gatherings such as bridal showers, birthday parties, etc. And that quickly grew into full size grazing tables for weddings, remembrances and other life events. Our clients entrust is to provide the best, most beautifully curated backdrops of appetizers that quickly become a highlight of their event. We love that they don’t have to worry about prep or set up, so they can focus fully on entertaining their guests.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
We have focused on providing the best type of customer service, from communication to product freshness and variety. We also maintain an online social media presence so our clients know we are always busy with the next event. Keeping them engaged in our community events and promoting an inclusive environment. We depend on their support and referrals to keep our business running and we appreciate that they have kept us busy since the beginning.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Our advice for anyone starting off with social media is to create meaningful videos and ideas with relation to your business. Don’t be afraid to showcase your work and toot your own horn. Talk to your audience with your product. We often hold back for fear of being criticized but it takes courage to step out of that comfort zone and leap into a world of comparison and competition. You will create your own unique touch and with experience brings wisdom, inspiration and confidence. You will meet new and intriguing new people along the way that will help you grow and we encourage you to open your arms to anyone willing to offer that kindness. It’s a beautiful thing.
