We recently connected with Vempre Terrell, Jr. and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Vempre, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success…although this is a word that stands out regularly to a plethora of people, the path to success is not one that those same people can easily define. From my standpoint, being successful takes one strong factor in life: faith. When a person has faith, this individual can overcome challenges, come hell or high water. With faith as the foundation of one’s spirit, settling for limitations in life is not something that a person is willing to do. Having faith gives a person the inspiration to reach toward greatness instead of bowing down to mediocrity. Recovering from life’s setbacks has shown me that looking to God for guidance is the best way to gain direction toward a better road ahead. In my own life, I learned that being successful no matter what may be standing in front of me was possible when I had faith. A big point of my life when I saw that faith was the driving force of success was when I pursued my goal of becoming an author. The most ironic thing about this situation was that the book I wrote, “The Eyes of Faith,” was about having faith in all times of life so that success would become the outcome. When I achieved this goal, I was able to see what faith could do for a person, and I was inspired to continually make this known to many other individuals.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Days of my life have existed when I felt the need to express myself, and I wanted that expression to take place in a positive manner. I began to see that writing was an effective way for me to express my feelings and place my emotions on the figurative table in a positive manner. Whether writing books, songs, poetry, or whatever my point of expression happens to be, writing is my passion. From one standpoint, my love of being a motivator to readers grants me with a love of writing words of inspiration from page to page. At another angle, the enjoyment that I have for bringing fictional works to readers is something that I also love. Being able to positively communicate myself with others is an aspect of my life that I truly love. Whether I have had the pleasure of meeting my readers or not, I want them to feel like they know me through my writing. Becoming an author is a great accomplishment in my life of which I am very proud, and it empowers me to touch the lives of others.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Positively touching the lives of others drives my creative journey. Regardless if my readers happen to gain inspiration from works like my first book, “The Eyes of Faith,” if they experience entertainment from my upcoming fictional books, if they encounter motivation from my songs, or if they gain encouragement from my poetry, I want my written expression to empower my readers. When it comes to my motivational speaking, I have a passion for ensuring that my audience members leave with a key message that they will productively implement into their lives. Speaking to a small group or a packed auditorium makes no difference to me. I want both sets of audience members to take positive points away from my speeches with them.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
The Bible is the book that has significantly impacted my philosophy. Days have existed when I have wanted to simply throw in the towel on goals that I have pursued in life, but the Word of God granted me with inspiration to keep going. I have set aside time to read biblical scriptures, analyze them, and apply them into my life. Listening to a preacher speak the Word is one thing, but gaining a personal understanding for yourself through studying the Word is a significantly empowering experience. Reading the Word of God is something that I encourage my readers and audience members to do, because I have seen the power that such an action has in life.
